Even if you were to think in terms of "we could've had 6 more episodes", that wouldn't really work that well since these episodes would have to take place after the movie and require different direction and spoil the story. Truth is, "season 2" as a 14 episodes season doesn't really make sense as a project due.

Each episode is interesting in its own way. I don't disagree with the idea that it could also have been interesting to do it completely differently though.I guess we're somewhat on the same page given what you wrote at the end of your post, but what I mean by that is that it's not just some kind of "high effort animation performance" they nailed, it also takes creativity to craft what they did. A different, less flashy kind, but it deserves to be appreciated too.
