I was hoping for something stupid, pretentious and fun but it ended up being stupid, pretentious and boring. I really can't understand the logic behind wanting to create something slow and contemplative, and then choosing to adapt shlock like a death game series with cute maid girls being killed a dozen different ways. There were so many pauses and drawn out sequences but very little to chew on. A lot of weird directing decisions too, like omitting the scene where they have to cut their limbs off entirely. I can appreciate this style of editing generally, but skirting around the violence sort of defeats the purpose of the genre, no? It looked good at least. I'll give the next episode a go but if it's more of the same I'll drop it.
