What do we think of this guy's work?I've watched both seasons of the Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere anime, read that City Series manga, and now i'm trucking through On a Godless Planet. This guy basically writes random bullshit with all the stuff he manages to come up. But i find it strangely commendable. It's portrayed with such confidence, you can't help both go along with it. His worlds are so imaginative and amusing there is something fascinating about them. And it walks a thin line between otaku fantasy and esoteric knowledge of world history, mythology and science.I'm surprised most of his stuff is available in english for the most part. Owari is fully available, so is Godless and City Series, and a large chunk of Horizon too with more on the way.Why is his stuff not popular? You've read his other novels beyond the horizon anime? You think we will ever get anime for his other stuff? Let alone horizon S3?

>all characters are Otaku savvy>schizo power systems and fights>actually coherent when portraying historial real world elements>all girls are sexy and in skin tight suitsWhy don't you niggers read or talk about his stuff?
Impossible to properly adapt but we can dream.
>>285119375We got kicked off to /jp/ years ago and fizzled out after a while.
>>285118137I tried to read Horizon (in Japanese) cause I enjoyed the anime ages ago, but let me be real, it's a complete slog to read.It has the classic issues of epic fanatasy novels that has dozens of character POVs who basically do nothing, the comedy didn't work very well without actual visuals/voices like the anime, and progression of plot/characters feel like a snails pace.I respect the author that he can grind out these novels at the lengths they are, but they just ain't fun to read. I forced myself to get past where the anime finished (when they enter France to meet Mitotsdaira's mom). But I ended up dropping it because of having random battles with new characters who I don't know (because I lack the historical knowledge probably) along witha whole fucking chapter of Mito's mom describing how she fugged Mito's dad made me get bored.Tl;dr, stories are too long and bloated imo so not fun to read
>>285118137I love this guy's wonderful autism. Him showing what Kimi's dance should look like in person is such a Kawakami thing to do.I also wish more people read Owari no Chronice. Seeing Sayama and Shinjou getting animated is one of my few remaining never evers.
The first episode kinda hits you like a truck with it's lore dump, so that filters out a lot of people.Personally it's one of my favorite series, and I need to read more of the LN.God bless the middle schooler that translates it.
On a Godless Planet sure is a trip
>>285120639How much of Horizon is still untranslated?
>>285121699>Main seriesCouple last chapters of 10A; all of10B, 10C, 11A, 11B and 11C.>Girl's TalkVolumes 4 and 5>Next BoxAll of it (4 novels)>KimitoasamadeAll of it (4 novels)So yeah, there's still quite a bit left, but given what has been done, i'm not afraid of it taking forever. We'll see all of it in this life.
>>2851216995 chapters, and 5 more volumes, plus some side material that he really ought to make a reading guide for. It'll be another year or two until it's finished at the rate he goes.
>>285118137I love the Musashi gang, but the Azuchi crew bores me. Except Kani, she's a good girl. I love the 1v1 duels that happened around volume 6 that showcased a good amount of the cast.
Izumi makes someone like Issei look like a well adjusted member of society
>>285121869God bless js06.
>>285118137We need more translations
One thing in particular i'd like to point out is that, ever since the third City Series book iirc, Satoyasu has been the main artist for most of Minoru-sensei's universe. City Series, Owari no Chronicle, Horizon and Godless Planet. He gives a very distinctive style to these eccentric worlds, from the very unique clothes, mechanical design and very sexy yet cute girls.Souga Toshi S. F. Is a treat to read solely because he is the main artist. That said, i do like to mention that, in a personal note, i do like his older art a bit better.
One last bump
