Moreover the civilization isn't overly reliant on the MC, which makes it better than Release That Witch where the civilization is almost completely reliant on the MC and the witches for most of the story, that's for sure. Only issue with SoD is the flat almost non-existent romance but Amber the main heroine goes through amazing character development from cheeky mesugaki thief into a glorious BASED glowie.

On the other hand DH does it a lot better since it's the only side-character PoVs it regularly veers off into are "the nephew" and the leader of the border city secret agency which both tend to be fun enough most of the time and their PoVs don't overstay their welcome either, never being focused on for more than 2-3 chapters max. In comparison, the worst case in DSE was what felt like 10+ chapters focused on side-characters without seeing any signs of the crew and even more chapters where the crew were shown but not the MC. In both of them the MC ends up living as a girl most of the time for reasons. The current one seems to be headed in a harem direction again.
