It's kino but ONLY for a certain mood. Watching it in the wrong one will ruin everything.

The way it connects spirituality with psychology/neurology is very unique and memorable. Trauma being linked to the appearance of ghosts, the small town atmosphere, the psychologist who hyptnotizes a girl who in trance becomes a medium for a god possessing her, the genuinly unnerving ghosts encounters, its really great. Only a few small flaws here and there and the end is a bit of a let down, but its still very much worth watching. And the recaps at the start of each episode where speech is distorted as if through a bad radio connection, really unnerving sometimes, great atmosphere.There once was a glorious time where Abe, Konaka and Nakamura worked together and i have very fond memories of watching these shows. Can only recommend

It's good but it shits the bed a bit in the second half.Like there's a ton of buildup for this mystery in the first few episodes and then it's basically resolved at the halfway point and then it's just weird cults and Evil Local Corp from that point in.The style and tone is impeccable, though.

I really love these types of unnerving atmospheric shows, Mononoke is another good one.
