Watanuki, most likely, if he were more comfortable being by himself would have less problems with the supernatural. His whole dilemma was about him wanting to get rid of the bad spirits that were preventing him from having a normal life.He could have been just fine if he just worked for Yuuko and never bothered to get closer to Himawari and other people, but Yuuko can't prevent him from reaching out to other people, that's the whole dilemma.
