I'm not even mad at the use of the lastest buzzwword. But this carefree use of a very specific word to then mean anything really irks me. Why come up with "slop" to name a very specific kind of bad product to then apply it to anything with the excuse of being tongue in cheek? Its just plain better than a lot of modern anime. Simple as.

A lot of shows are going to be from before your time/s at some point or another in life. Just never be shocked when the ones that are still being discussed to this day float to the surface in conversation because they are still excellent.
