Why does it feel less than common for anime to have happy full families with 2 parents? Usually the parents are so irrelevant they barely show up or one of the parens is dead or away on business.

people with less personal connections to start with are just more interesting and easier to handle from a narrative perspective. if you include parents but they're not really part of your story focus, they're just a distraction. it's not just anime

Responsible and present parents are the antithesis of drama and outstanding situations. Having them exist requires a certain level of writing skill.

Love these two. Wish they had more spotlight.

Having two loving parents for a character can be annoying to deal with as a writer
