I just read the beach house arc again and finnally understood it.
There was no illusion in that arc, the god manipulated people to accept anomalies. Drowned in despair, shop owner resigned the quest for truth and his daughter, surrendered to the god.
He lived a few more days, paid the salary then got disposed.
