Actual spoilers, only read if you finished the manga: to me it shows Airi's initial denial at seeing their relationship through a romantic lens which is obviously how Hina sees it. It even shows even some fear at reciprocating Hina's affection from Airi's part which is why she lashes out. She flat out gets upset that Hina wants to be romantic/sexual with her here. She is always very contradictory about if she loves Hina or not, and was clearly in denial at first and pushed her away when she tried. Or maybe she didn't love her at the start, and just wanted to take out her sadistic cravings on someone. Anyways this is the core of their relationship issues so I think it's meant to be ugly and disturbing.
