I don't understand the mangaka. His previous career consisted of him drawing girls suffering, right? He gets into Jump+ and has a very successful first chapter mostly about cute girls suffering. Since then the focus keeps shifting to male characters and their dramas. I don't buy that it's an editorial decision anymore, I think the mangaka always meant this to be a fairly typical battle shonen. It's whatever, but the beginning really made me think this story would lean more in a mahou shoujo direction.
