When's the next time they're gonna make anime that looks like this? It's kinda been a while.
damn that's some choppy animation. maybe post something good?
>>285295115muh key frames and inbetweens
>>285295115Why do you think it's bad?
>>285295150MOST shows have this problem, poorly directed inbetween frames just sliding between key frames when they should smoothly and naturally go between points without revealing the obvious key frames by suddenly shifting direction. If you need examples of good animation with fluid inbetweens then watch any Disney or Warner Bros animation made before the 1970s
>>285295349I don't know, I think you're being too intentionally critical just to be angry about something. Can you post something you like? Also may I ask how old you are?
>>285295349I don't think animation has to look some "objective", specific, limited way for it to be good.
>>285295491You misunderstand the issue here
>>285295571I don't think there is an issue. Natsu no Arashi is great.
>>285295129>>285295150>>285295446>>285295491>>285295580Has /a/ become so barren that the only way to keep a thread alive is engage with trolls?
>>285295591Who do you think is the troll
>>285295607Obviously the underage trying to call the animation "bad". It's the same typical pattern you seen in every thread on /a/ that dares to suggest anything made before the current generation was born is good. Did you see the meltdown in the Haibane Renmei thread?
>>285295617He's right though Actually look at it and think about what he's describing This isn't "new good old bad" he's just an animation nerd and the problem is only less common in new animation because technology has reduced the work needed to fix it, or at least reduce how noticeable it is
>>285295670>HeMm, yeah, not seeing it, just like I'm not seeing your original "argument". It looks really nice, and I'm still waiting for you to post something you like.
>>285295617It's still up and mods don't really do anything here anymore for some reason.>>285295670>the problem is only less common in new animationI haven't seen anything made in the past 6 years that doesn't look like warm garbage. I assume Violet Evergarden is the only "good" anime in anon's world, everything else has just been a waste of time no?
>>285295687Is it inconceivable that someone would agree with him?>>285295714Modern animation has different problems, partially because the masters are retiring and the new guys never learned the skills they had because the technology made it seem unnecessaryAnd because studios tend to think they can throw more money at the problem to fix it or just wow people with flashy effects
>>285295687Not him, but personally I have issues with the way the movement isn't smooth – The camera pans and zooms look jerky, and the faceless characters in particular seem to switch directions without proper anticipation. Those kinds of things can be used for deliberate effect, of course, but I don't think it adds anything here. The bodies also seem like they have trouble keeping their volumes consistent, the inner lines especially slide around a lot. Both issues contribute to making the whole thing feel wobbly. It reminds me of those One Piece webms where people keep repeating tiny movements during fast action scenes. It also makes me think of rotoscoped animation, but that might just be the single-color shading. Also, I don't really like the way the frame shrinks at the end of each cut, it doesn't really feel coordinated with the animation. As for something I like, I've always been fond of the Tokimeki Tonight ED. It makes good use of switching between smoother and less smooth animation for effect.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkGGL8KwZi0
>>285295446>>285295491nta but he offered a perfectly plausible technical explanation as to why the OP animation is bad. It's very visible to anyone with a bit of knowledge of how animation work, and yest, that's the main problem
>>285295962Tryhardest post on /a/ right now.
>>285296417>It's very visible to anyone with a bit of knowledgeVery forced and most likely samefagging. You could have made a point without resorting to passive-aggressive rhetoric but you didn't. Why? Because the animation is perfectly fine and there's nothing you can adequately nitpick about it.>>285295962There is nothing special at all about Tokimeki Tonight's animation, other than its status as baby's first "look I found an 'obscure anime' on english-speaking youtube".
>>285295617my argument isn't "old new good bad"A majority of old shows do the same thing because the inbetweens are given to amateurs. This hasn't changed in the 70 years of anime history. Same thing happens in new shows and old shows alike. The only time it doesn't look jittery is when you get one professional animator to animate an entire scene by themself
>>285297013I didn't say it was special, I said I liked it. I'd certainly say it's more appealing than the animation in the OP despite being less animated.
>>285295962You can still see the keyframe/inbetween jitters in Tokimeki Tonight, they're just less pronounced because the movements are all pretty linear or there's only a single motion per scene.
>>285297013>Very forced and most likely samefagging. >You could have made a point without resorting to passive-aggressive rhetoric but you didn't. Why?Someone get this hothead out of here. Complains about me trolling and then goes on to spout utter nonsense. How ridiculous
>>285297110>my argument isn't "old new good bad"Your argument is "I hate something good because I need to hate on something to feel good about myself".There's literally no reason to say that animation is "bad", and your explanation for "why" is forced and self-contradictory.
>>285297229You get back what you put in. No crying crocodile tears now.
Natsu no Arashi is great
>>285295085No one in the thread really answered the question. If you want that pop art style, you are probably going to have to wait for another spy/noir anime which isn’t really in fashion right now, so I don’t know maybe 10 years would be my guess
