The MYTH

The demolition gun is a conventional weapon in itself, but using it requires the Lambda driver to absorb the incredible amount recoil it produces (and the kickback is significant even with the drive engaged). A slightly important detail that the manga glosses over.

So if you consider the amount of time Sousuke had to spend training, the time probably lines up. Then again, Gatou has expressed skepticism of the timeline of his own series, especially that all the comedy stories he wrote could occur within the roughly nine months from Sousuke's arrival until Amalgam finally goes nuts.
