Also the McDougals beyond all were simply obsessed over Melphina above anything else.

I would have killed for a videogame that used his setting and that's probably what he should have pursued instead.That or just teamed up with an actual writer on the condition that his setting ideas be used. The Towards the Stars setting is just so fucking good. Chinese dominating space with actual fucking Tao magic, Spaceships with arms that fight with weapons, very limited number of aliens so the setting doesn't feel overwhelmed and it makes sense for humans to remain the majority in many cases.But it just never really does much beyond the treasure hunt. Them having to invent the MacDougal brothers for anime shows what was lacking.
