Couple days ago I was replaying the trailers in my excitement and this shot kept catching my eye. After staring at it for a while and thinking about the first promo picture I ended up accidentally guessing the twist. Then the full duet version of EX-Monoatari got posted early on bilibili yesterday and pretty much confirmed it for me.Still I really enjoyed the movie. I dug out my good headphones and set up a little home movie theatre with a projector. I finally caught up with this. 2+ hour movie is not a joke. It's like binging half of the season. But damn, they packed a lot. In general, I think it was really great. Well structured and directed, with amazing visuals. Glad to see it got the recognition it deserves. It's truly an age of yuri.

Some parallels between vtubers and kaguya's story were nicely thought of, but the game sequence was garbage and served no purpose except for the graduation fight. Talking about things with no purpose, literally all side characters, except for the dog. The ending info dump also showed that they didn't really plan everything out before starting.The artstyle in the normal world was very flat, probably to make the contrast with the great visuals of the VR world more obvious but nontheless. The use of "3d" animation with respect to the background was incredibly well done. The music-clips animations were very well done, but not super original. Kaguya was quite fun as a character and infectious. Iroha on the other hand was the opposite with all of her conflict resolved by doing nothing. In conclusion, a fine movie but a bit too long for its own good and not that remarkable except for some strong animation parts.
