I mean, I appreciate CLAMP's ability to crank up the edge without wussing out, but wow...This is hitting me even harder than any of the prior suffering in this manga. From the very get-go, I found Fai to be a type of character I like very much (other examples of this specific type include Xellos from Slayers, Itsuki from Haruhi, and Kaworu from Evangelion; I guess it could best be summed up as "mysterious and seemingly serene bishounen with supernatural abilities of some sort"), but he's gradually been shaping up to stand out among the others of that sort, to the point where I honestly believe he may turn out to be my favorite male character of all time, or at least among the very top of my favorites.

>>285703729Eh, it's not really true, there's plenty of wholly unredeemable female characters in their works starting from as early as Rg Veda, see Ashura's mother, Agni or Tamara being all unapologetically evil with not a single positive trait, maybe you can include the fake Lady Aizenmyoo as well but iirc it's technically a genderless parasite so it shouldn't really count.There's definitely some patterns to that though, outside of some notable exceptions like Debonair those unredeemable female characters tend to often be delusional simps/cuckqueans, while the unredeemable male characters like Fuuma or Taishakuten are very often heartbroken and/or mentally ill gay/bi men.There's also many CLAMP manga where you have neither, see Clamp School Detectives, Wish, Clover or Angelic Layer.
