Thing is, many manga also focus on the chase of the relationship, not what comes after the leads actually get together. In fact, longer running series actively seem to try and keep the leads apart alot of the time to keep their relationship from progressing too fast. So, in order to keep the story going, it becomes ensemble cast.WataYuri and ZenKowa all come to mind as examples of the above.
