If /a/ existed in 1995, the mangafags would cry about this being too tryhard and "cinematic" compared to the goofy and expressive manga.
If /a/ existed before the rot set in in the 00's about adaptations being wrote fucking paint by numbers panel for panel adaptations or RIOT it wouldn't have cared, because it was before the rot.Different zeitgeist.
>>285704296/a/ is reddit now, get over it
>>285704296Well, yes. All the time I see things that were heavily criticized when they came out, that some now defend because they're old and they were born after such thing came out. Case in point, awful digital coloring from the early 2000s people now have nostalgia for. You ain't really saying anything groundbreaking.
>>285704296it IS a tryhard film. burgers overrate this flick when oshii had already had a legendary run of works before directing gits.

>>285704296If this website existed in 1995 normalfags like you would not be aware of 4chan. Users of the the website would have limited access to translated manga and just be desperate for whatever they could get.
>>285704296>>28570457295 Motoko is so pretty.
>>285704581he's right major was very cute in the manga and not at all in the movie
The film isn't bad, but it's clear that the director just wanted to make a clone of Blade Runner so badly. So therefore it's kind of a redundant movie.
What if...neither are bad but just different? Ever think about that?
>>285704296It's just a shallow and 2deep4u movie reinforcing the cyberpunk dystopia vibe seen in other shows of the time such as SE:L
>>285704581>AKIRA>good
>>285704296Manga was dated even in 95, there is a reason why nobody cares about apple seed
>>285704521It's tryhard like every soft power flick during the bubble. Scenes are amazing but as a movie it doesn't work well. Probably because directors had experience with short length only
>>285704296>Unfaithful to the source material>Most of the movie consists of adults asking boring questions the typical 8 year old has already figured out>Ugly-ass character designAnd in 1995 /a/ would be correct.
