I do not know if this has been pointed out before, but I just realized it and I'm sharing it here.So a funny thing happened yesterday.Not knowing japanese, all this time I simply assumed that いとこのこ meant, "my cousin" with the ko particle acting as a first person pronoun. Turns out that's not true.Yesterday I decided to check on what I thought was true and asked chatGPT and the other AI chatbots in town what the series title いとこのこ meant.Every single one consistently returned "[my] cousin's child".Now this struck me as odd, because the only cousins featured in the story do not have kids, and the characters that DO have kids are not cousins but brothers.So I decided to dig a little deeper, I asked co-pilot to summarize for me the plot of いとこのこ, which it did, very accurately (on a side note, it creeps me out how incredibly coherent these things are, despite being nothing more than stochastic parrots; but I diggress). Then told it that, taking all of that into account, what would the best translation of the title be and if there was any nuance or double meaning in it.It was able to provide a credible answer and it told me the title involves some japanese wordplay.
