>Decide to rewatch Porco Rosso
>Download a torrent that has multiple audio
>Accidentialy swap it to french when Porco Rosso is speaking
>Swap it back after
>Decide I like it
>Do this throughout the entire movie, where Porco speaks french and everyone else speaks Japanese.
>The movie was 5x better because of it
Porco Rosso.

Has /a/ ever done anything like this?

No, but I will from now on.

french is best when spoken by a woman

There's a Psycho Pass movie cut that has all the Americans using the english dub actors and all the Japanese using the japanese dub actors

I would watch this

I remember really not liking Porco Rosso, but I rewatched it recently and it's actually not bad.

>>285725232
To be fair, Miyazaki doesn't like Porco Rosso either
>>

Take your pick of 1080p or 864p

Porco Rosso is the best ghibli film, and you're a based autist. The only thing I did that was close was decide to only watch Gintama after i converted every episode to .gba to watch it on my gba many years ago. Did it for every ep

Then why did he try to make it again?
>>
>>285725512
please elaborate, how do you convert a video to gba and most importantly ... why?
>>
>>285729341
Because Miyazaki is a neurotic depressive auteur artoid whose talents and flaws both spring from the same well.
>>
>>285723949
As a Michael Keaton connoisseur, I have to say that's nuts.
>>
>>285725512
I don't believe you dawg. How did you even watch it when the GBA screen is like 160p? I imagine you cannot load subtitles like that. And you had a flashcart to do all of this? And you didn't have a better device where this is actually feasible and not retarded like the PSP or iPod?
>>

Porco > Kiki > rest

I fucking adore Porco; easily his best and one of my favourite films of all time.
Best scenes:
>the girls being kidnapped
>every air battle
>negotiating the new plane,
>building it
>testing the engine
>the Roald Dahl bit where he flies into a slipstream of passed pilots
>the duel at the end, both plane and fist
>the final kiss

Based. The french dub of Ghibli movies is notoriously good, I remember fondly Vampire hunter D Bloodlust's one too. Great performances overall
>>
>>285723949
Ill give that a try today. I haven't watched Porco Rossa in years
>>
>watching English dubs is considered sacrilege
>watching French dubs is considered "based"
>>
>>285725232
If you had to try and come up with a reasonably objective ranking of Ghibli films, Porco Rosso would probably sit right around the middle. I love the film regardless and rewatch it reasonably often.
>>
>>285732566
The pig is French, get over it.
>>
>>285732566
Being anti-dub was always a silly take and it becomes substantially more obvious that it is once you start watching non-english dubs.
>>
>>285732566
actually you can watch literally ANY format you want for a series or movie, the only thing is that you shouldn't speak authoritatively about what happens in it unless you've got the actual source material to confirm what is said, at the end of the day anime is a hobby about having fun with japanese animation, not a purity test to prove you are a gold star weeb
>>

Accidentally downloaded the Italian dub of Cagliostro so I found a subtitle file and just watched it that way, it felt fitting.

it is told in the era of mussolini actual fascists, the movie is more about survivors guilt and bonds than it is about politics
the fascism stuff is only used to give porco more antagonists

That's autistic in the best way possible anon. I remember back when Nickelodeon would put episodes of stuff like spongebob onto GBA carts. It was ass but still novel before the PSP blew them out of the water with UMD movies.
>>
>>285737464
Isn't gintama like really long?

since we're on the subject, i would kill for a Gunslinger Girl dub in Italian.

Even Miyazaki loved the French dub what are you talking about
>>
Why french? Shouldn't it be Italian?
>>
>>285732566
French dubs of Anime are better because Japanese translates better into French then into English.
Watch any dubbed anime and you will quickly notice that, even if the translation is perfectly accurate… no one talk like this. The general mannerisms from the highly formal and indirect Japanese translate really badly into the casual and direct English, and it makes dialogue that, close as though it may be to the original, is just fucking awkward to listen to.
French is more formal and convoluted than English, so the mannerisms of Japanese don't sound nearly as awkward when spoken in French.
Combine that with the French being massive weeaboos who have been fascinated with Japan since the mid 19th century and you have a recipe for good dubs.
I mean, the French voice for Porco Rosso was Jean Reno for fuck's sake, what more do you want?
>>
>>285725274

Incorrect, by virtue of being French and therefore ear-grating; Spanish provides the superior experience.

That's just quirky. I thought you meant back in 2006 when not everyone had portable devices to watch things on.
