HF is in part about exposing the lengths that Rin would go to when not under Shirou's influence -- she doubles down on her magus upbringing and sacrifices her inner good nature for the sake of appearing strong and amoral. Sakura tells us that Rin was even sadder than her when Shirou died but she moved on quicker than Sakura, because the point is she didn't. She channeled her inner grief into becoming as stern and inhuman of a head of a magus family to cope about her weakness and failure to save Shirou. Nasu's aim with the HF Normal ending is to make you feel bad and realize that Shirou is a necessary element for Rin and Sakura to fix their relationship. If only so that he can guilt trip you into wanting Shirou and Sakura to be together at the end. It makes more sense narrative wise if Nasu is implying that Rin doubled down on her magus autism as a result of Shirou's death and said result is tragic and avoidable.
