I'll be storytiming the manga, one complete case per day. Most cases are around 3-6 chapters long.
Feel free to drop in at any time, since it's mostly episodic.

The million dollar question is: did Akai farm aura in front of Black without telling him his plan, or is Black lying to his agents right here?
Because if it's the second, it means Akai and Black are suspecting a mole. If it's the first, Akai isn't trusting Black.
Great case. On a reread, Kir arc is better than I remembered.

>>
>>285902376
This is an interesting angle, where a suspect we already know is innocent is acting suspicious as fuck.
I do appreciate that even after over 600 chapters, Gosho can mix up the formula a little to keep it interesting.

>>
>>285904814
There will be explanation, I don't remember if it will be entirely satisfactory though. Frankly, with short time, Gin on Kir's ass, and them being heavily monitored during the shooting, anything would have felt too good anyway.

Akai is char?
I mean, I guess akai does mean red
>>
>>285903043
...it did feels weird that conan just lend out his phone like that
and the explanation a bit nonsensical too, even though it kinda touched on the case
>>
>>285905767
from wiki
>Akai's name comes from the Mobile Suit Gundam character Char Aznable, whose nickname was the "Red Comet" (赤い彗星 Akai Suisei?), and Char's voice actor Shuichi Ikeda (who is also Akai's voice actor). Additionally, his alias, Dai Moroboshi, comes from Char's real name, Casval Rem Deikun (sounds like Dai-kun in Japanese). Moroboshi can also mean falling star, another possible allusion to Red Comet.
And his future rival will have references to Amuro.

Damn, she must have some hellish good chemicals, hair dye usually takes 20-30 minutes just to set, that's not counting the time it takes to first apply it on the hair.
Perm requires hair to be put on lots of curlers while simultaneously applying the chemical on each, and then it takes 1 hour for the chemicals to make the curl permanent.

Okay, everyone's just humoring Conan's Sleeping Kogoro act by now. Right? They're standing so close it's impossible for them not to hear Conan's voice overlapping with "Kogoro".
>>

It's actually pretty close when you hear it being pronounced, shi is pronounced a bit different from english, so the vocals connect into heavily accented "sit down".

Gosho was cruel! making her wait for 7 years to reveal Akai is alive and introduce nippon favorite detective rei and hence the status quo is established.
>>
>>285932035
To us it was 7 years, to them maybe a week. One thing I am rather annoyed about is that Subaru is not his own character, I like the cunning fox more than edgy Akai, but there is only so many detectives that could be running around before it gets really cramped.
>>
>>285922429
I dunno but I think this is the only time Conan sadistic behavior. In other cases, he look for evidence and motives. But this case he like just finish it ASAP! Maybe he miss Akai.
>>
>>285903002
Kir last dance before npced.
>>
>>285932099
Another point is that he doesn't like to be around Eri/Eva for too long, since she is usually smart enough to question things he says/does. And Kogoro and Eri in same place can be quite a bother to deal with.
>>
>>285932098
It is like facing death make ls home lose edgeness. Same as kudo at the start he was cocky and reckless, but after meeting Gin he always thinks about future. Shit got real!

>>285929625
like he could just tell the guy to take it seriously
>>
>>285933835
If I remember right, at that point he was already hard pressed with all the loans he took out to finance this, a longer delay while the code guy gets his shit together could have ruined him and that would be the end of his dream altogether. So it's like a dam broke and killing desire flooded everything.
>>
>>285902886
André Camel = Lieutenant Dren
While you have stuff like Kogoro for Kogoro Akechi or Megure for Maigret. Idk Gosho, it feels a bit contrived

>>285922269

>>
>>285902572
So how does this make sense? She woke from a coma and immediately escaped without talking with any of them. This phone call sounds like she had made a deal with the FBI, and Gin is there to listen to this phone call.
>>
>>285922366
Takagi is so cultured. Meanwhile Sato doesn't even know basic human etiquette
>>
>>285922341

>>
>>285922527
Kek
>>
>>285922631
I don't think you can get such force by slamming the brakes without anyone in the neighborhood hearing it. It's kinda contrived
>>
>>285922694
Is this the first time she gets to see Sleeping Kogoro?
>>
>>285928937
Not even half-assing it, but pandering to CASUALS.
>We promised we'd make a shogi AI that can beat even the best in the world, and he's asking me about takebacks?!
>>
>>285922774
It seems like it would have been way easier to just kill him in a moment when Eri was waiting for something and then not move the body till much later.
>>
>>285931375
It would have been so easy for him to go around the corner in the alley, too. Brat just doesn't give a fuck anymore.
>>
>>285934624
Akai being Char is far more contrived. Seems Gosho was exploring his love for Gundam then, but his name ideas were worse than Agasa's puns.
>>
>>285934834
We don't know what Rena told the BO. Maybe she told them she was conscious at some point and they tried to make her defect, which is even correct. The fact that she was lying down during the transport could just have been regular drugs.
Now what's more unbelievable is for someone to walk around like that after being in a hospital bed for weeks without moving.
>>
>>285922366
>>285934845
I like how this is consistent with Takagi being a martial arts enthusiast, back from the case with the masked wrestlers.
>>
>>285935219
But then she would be without alibi. They can't determine time of death very precisely, especially the longer a body rots, so they wouldn't be able to tell he died precisely when she was busy with a client. She also wouldn't be able to say she didn't have time to kill him in between.
>>
>>285935219
Considering they are able to pinpoint the time of murder very precisely in DC, she wouldn't have an alibi in that case. The time for the transport of the body was the key here, not the murder itself.
>>
>>285935850
>They can't determine time of death very precisely
>>285935857
>Considering they are able to pinpoint the time of murder very precisely in DC
WELL WHAT IS IT NOW
>>
>>285935894
With very fresh corpse it's easier to tell when he died. With corpse that has been lying around for a while, especially when influenced by change in temperature, it gets harder. In every other detective show they will usually just give a time frame of few hours at best, unless they have proof victim was alive at time that would fit into that frame, and discovered soon after.
But sometimes Detective Conan operates on its own rules for simplicity.
>>

The number of tiles below the Hair Salon sign goes from 11 to 10!
This is extremely rare in DC, because the background assistants have been the same since the beginning of the series, and are extremely consistent. (personally, they are top tier in manga industry - zero pc usage, always by hand and incredibly consistent. The best evidence is Kogoro's office)
>>
>>285922404
This is the kind of details I love, because they look obvious in hindsight, but it makes absolute sense any kind of culprit wouldn't consider them. And even if they did, there was nothing the culprit could do something about it: a hairphone alone isn't enough to blow all cut hair disappear, and if you wash the victim hair the police will immediately know the body's wet, and ask themselves why.
This girl fucked up big.

Brat.

is no one gonna complain that not only he's wearing a priceless historical artifact and ruining it with his sweat but also chucking it like a fucking ball?
>>

Downright peculiar.
>>

What the fuck was with that twist. At least the osananajimi can get together, I guess
>>
>>285942928
They should have placed the centipede on his tongue.
>>
>>285944287
>yet another childhood friends couple
Just who was the girl that stole Gosho's heart to have him become like this?
>>
>>285944501
Let me guess, Scar Guy is making this up to lure out the real killer.
>>
>>285944566
>Fooling around again
H-hot...
>>
>>285944897
>killed 5 people because an archer was too good to gamble on
Two contenders for pettiest motive in a row.
>>
>>285945025
>woman police officer is only good for making coffee
That's very problematic, Gosho.
>>
>>285944648
>Blue is... the color of all that I wear

>>285945068
Thanks OP
Decent case, feels like a while since we had a proper serial killer
>>285947836
Well, she did also want to cover up her murder.
>>
This is like a bizarro version of one of the earlier serial murder cases. All of the necessary parts for a good case are there , Gosho just absolutely fumbles it all.
>Kogoro is a ghost who contributes less than nothing
>Ran and Kazuha have even less personality than usual
>Every single chapter apparently has to start with a wall of exposition
>The motivation for the murder (as well as the murderer's identity) are basically not developed at all and just pulled out of nowhere
>The actual centerpiece is the introduction of another epic based side character with his own will they won't romance slop routine
>Has to end in a terribly choreographed action set piece
It's getting fucking tough out here
>>
>>285948019
you just described every single Conan case
>>
>>285944861
That panel makes it seem like the victim didn't put up any fight at all and just let herself get strangled. Her hands aren't even tied up and she's up against an old hag. Considering the murder took place very shortly before they were found, she could have just ripped off the gag and screamed for help.

>>285948044
me when I'm blind and retarded and can't read and also am just lying

>>285945068
Long-ish for Conan. Once you think of the average Kindaichi case lenght, DC is faster than bullets
>>
>>285935803
But if I remember correctly (it may have been only in the movies) Takagi has also identified several artists in general, both painters, singers and actors
>>
>>285945068
Thx mate
>>
>>285943186
OH!? I saw movie 13 a couple days ago and I was wondering what this guy deal was, since nobody talked about him other than presenting him as a police detective. I suppose I shouldn't watch more DC movies until we're deeper in the read along.
>>
>>285942928
that's clearly a worm

Some people just go as far below as they can when it comes to money

The newest one is all about him and the case they mentioned. It's pretty bad

I have to admit, my eyes glassed over in this cage. Pretty boring.

lol, Disney got most of it wrong, may be that's why the chinese hate Mulan.
>>
While I was completely lost through most of the case (a family tree would have been greatly appreciated), I really liked the ending. I still don't understand how five year passed since Kai's death and the first of the serial murders death. Let this be a reminder to not read cases when sleepy

Speedreader-kun...
>>
>>285946970
Akira should have been the real culprit.
>>
>>285948019
The killer's motivation is often the weakest part of a Conan case. The bigger issue with this one is the convoluted yet boring small town drama and the logical holes. It could've been solved much faster if the police had tried to figure out where the centipedes came from.
>>
>>285949840
no anon YOU are the speedreader. look at the armor he's wearing again, it's not the cheap white replica, it's the real deal red armor that's already stated to cost a fortune >>285943944
>>
>>285943615
Kind of hot.

A nephew is still a blood relative, Heiji, that's why one is not supposed to fuck their first cousin.
>>
>>285923965
shine was peak
>>
>>285954574
That wasn't stupid motive, just middle finger from fate. The girl was still getting harassed and who knows how she would have ended up even without the shine thing, the killer just didn't realize his was the straw that broke camel's back.

wait isn't this the guy from the latest snow movie?
>>
>>285955844
Yes, that's inspector Yamato. And Yui Uehara. They are just missing Taka'aki Morofushi, aka Komei, and his pain in the ass fancy quotes.
The movie was expansion on the case they briefly mention in this one.
>>
>>285942851
please not another kanji case
>>
Did the average anon here know what Furinkazan meant before stepping into this case? I'm just curious
>>
>>285943787
I guess it's a recurring theme in conan but are warring state period treasures really sought after in japan?
>>
>>285956063
Yeah
I have pretty surface level knowledge of sengoku era japan because of Rance
>>
>>285943395
sounds like the sons caused the officer death in some way, and the centipede is a message from the killer related to it
easy enough i guess
>>
>>285943571
holy shit, did everyone took part in killing that officer or something
>>
>>285956080
Wouldn't that be pretty logical? Anything with historical value comes with bragging rights, and warring state period is probably the most popular one of them all.
>>
>>285943615
does hanging really kill you that quick
>>
>>285956063
No, I only had a vague knowledge of the original quote by Tsun Zu. Japanese history is hard, I already have enough learning the history of my country at a deeper level
>>
>>285956111
If your neck breaks, yes. But with suicides when one kicks off the chair or something it doesn't necessarily happen, so one can even save the person if they are quick enough. That's why death penalty by hanging was done by making the hanged person fall into a deep pit, the longer the fall, the more likely the physics would cause the neck break.
>>
>>285943615
>>285943595
I'm not sure if it's just the new digital artstyle or what, but these newer corpse discovery scenes are so meh. With the early conan I remember the younger me genuinely dreading to open the next page because some of the scenes are legit scary (I think it was thanks to the liberal use of black inks and the more intense shading, but it's not like those effects can't be done in digital. If anything it should be easier)
>>
>>285944263
>randomly opening phone
yeap, he's so dead
>>
>>285944167
I dunno man, if your archery is only good when the target is stuck to one spot maybe he's not that good to begin with
>>
>>285956248
To be fair, it's much harder to aim straight when riding a horse. Archery competitions usually have both the archer and the target firmly in place, and even then it's not easy to get a good hit, so it's amazing if one can do it while moving fast.

>>285945025
Do you think she moaned "Kan-chan" during sex with her husband?
>>

>Kogoro is a ghost who contributes less than nothing
So normal Kogoro
>Ran and Kazuha have even less personality than usual
Yeah i guess Ran is a call the police and Kyaaaa bot since her doubts ended but is not like she was a good character before or something and Kazuha was always boring
>Every single chapter apparently has to start with a wall of exposition
this happen in all cases
>The motivation for the murder (as well as the murderer's identity) are basically not developed at all and just pulled out of nowhere
better than delaying a game or being jealous
>The actual centerpiece is the introduction of another epic based side character with his own will they won't romance slop routine
lets hope it doesnt
>Has to end in a terribly choreographed action set piece
better than the murderer just getting cuffed and arrested

I miss that, you could really tell something brutally robbed him of his life. Murder should look like an ugly act, not like they are just playing a prank on the detective.

I can't believe you faggots are doing le "old good new bad" meme when this chapter literally showed a man burning to death

Anon , this here is an extremely disappointing panel for a man burning to death >>285944330
And the way it happened was pretty halfassed as well. I don't want to hate too much, I still enjoy the cases, but the decline in quality is very noticeable.
I can't find a better image right now, but this guy from the Osaka case here comes to mind when thinking of a better example for a burning victim.

It's actually kind of hard to draw burning victims in black and white manga, but I found a rather good one, you can still see one eye open in shock.

>>285961966
Yeah, that's about as good as it gets without overdoing the details.
>>
>>285956080
Tell me your country's greatest heroes. Imagine you know their belongings are still hidden somewhere. To top it all, crank it up since Japan is both traditionalist and nationalist.
Actually... the only countries that wouldn't understand it immediately are the youngest, like USA.

Next case will be in a new thread (obviously).
