Truth be told. A character's likability isn't because that person is a top tier power fighter. Look at Todo and Nanami, they're nowhere near the upper tiers of strength but they're popular characters. Why?. Because they're helpful people and always go out in times of need. That's what people like in a character regardless how strong or weak they are. Now look at Megumi. the actual hate for him blossomed when he refused to help out the heroes even though he knows he's the only wincon they have to defeating Sukuna and you might think Megumi's character will get his best moment in this one. But..........he gave up......literally refusing help. Regardless how you look at his situation (or the bath). He was fully aware that he could've chose to fight back. That's still a very shitty decision especially when Gojo died because of him.
