She didn't know why she loved her abusive mother, when she found out she flowered and lost the need to rely on mirrors for her power. So it's definitely that. Coura's request to Lucas after Mount Tombe shows that she's self aware of being a menhera and lonely, so her Flowering losing her need for touch fits too much
