Each and every chapter hits the nail on how this seemingly stable situation is merely a fleeting chance and both starts to recognize and take action.
Honestly in the last few chapters I think the hyper-go-home club has dropped the ball, it had a nice atmosphere and romantic friendship build up to the peak, which was between the visit to grandma's house and when they nearly lost control of themselves in the park at night. But now it feels like it's changing direction and heading towards 2000s/early 10s era shounenshit romcoms; with contrived levels of both ignorance/unwillingness and lack of progress. Shitterun is pretty nice, or at least has its moments, but while the MC does stand up and take action when the plot calls for it this is mostly just him being a slightly courageous and extremely nice-guy white knight. Even in these moments, to say nothing of outside of them, he still feels extremely herbivore; and I mean just look at his design. Bus is short and cute but so far it's so devoid of sexuality that if it ended with a kiss on the cheek it'd feel like that was super spicy. I'm hearing more praise for the Jitsu Wa mangaka's new one, but I got bored after about 8ish chapters. It was just loads of reaction image faces from the 3 shipperfags and then every so often you'd get rewarded with a half covered purest maiden blush from the FeMC. It felt plotless and episodic. It's not really romance focused but Hatori and Furuta's Amazing Sock has the most exciting relationship dynamic I've found in highschool/middle school genre during the last couple of years, they seem like real friends with a budding romance. This has all the best parts of the HKB friendship, plus some, but it and the manga's atmosphere doesn't feel artificially innocent and of distilled purity. With my mindset it just feels like a standard and uninteresting way to add a bit of tension, distance and threat of separation. I can't say I'm not sick of the Japanese obsession with strict and formal educational success as a theme in manga, although it's only a kind of implication in this one so far.
