I didn't even realize that was meant to be a finale until reading your post twice. It isn't the worst axe ever, but the writer didn't seem to have had a good way to wrap up the story when he was told to cut it short. We're just left hanging, without even an "our battle is just getting started!!". I can't call it low effort, regardless. A lot of passion went into this just in terms of the elaborate art. Hopefully the writer got some way to put his conclusion out into the world.
