Now I will be Japanese. Domo.I am Japanese.I am a Japanese man.I am a Japanese man.
>>286225350I remember reading Monster in 4th grade and thinking Lunge was a complete badass. I went total idol-mode, even so far as mimicking how he used his hand as a mouse to rotate meaningless shapes in my head in my free time.
>>286225350You are
>>286225350A Japanese man?
I wish I'd never rewatched this show, such a letdown the second time through.
I once gave a bag of hot cheetos to a japanese exchange student, and he asked how to eat them without getting his hands dirty, so I handed him a pair of chopsticks and asked him "You're Japanese right? You can use chopsticks right?" and he started eating the cheetos with the chopsticks and repeating the phrase "I am Japanese, I am Japanese" over and over again

How self aware are the Japanese about how strange some foreigners see them?
>>286235820They seem to think "monkey" is our favorite jap slur but I've honestly I've never heard that anywhere else
>>286236249Monkey is reserved for the other kind of people. We are more creative than they think...
>>286236249It's from WW2.
>>286236644Is it, though? I thought 'Jap' has always been the American slur of choice, or some reference to being 'yellow' or slant/squinty-eyed.
>>286238149At least going by anime I think Japanese sometimes call other Japanese monkeys. Maybe it's projection.
>>286238149Jap is an abbreviation. Monkey was popular back when social Darwinism was a popular justification for racism. But by sheer coincidence, it was also a Japanese slur for uncivilized mountain trash, like hillbillies. So when foreigners called them monkeys, they were properly offended and it fostered cultural understanding, so they had to phase it out.
