I was worried about this episode but it ended up as one of the better ones so far. You learn a good bit about 70% of the cast in it. Guys like Fake Caster and Fake Assassin who were just kind of there. Especially the latter who has been nothing but a failed terminator so far. Nice to see she actually has a moral framework and doesnt just assassinate on a whim. We mostly knew about the cops but Orlando choosing to exhaust all options before personally executing Tsubaki himself shows his integrity, which is completely at odds with Faldeus, who's ordering an assassination of a U.S citizen in the same episode, despite them both being government officials. Flat would have turned Faldeus down on the spot.Speaking of Flat, he carried this episode. Nice to see a master who can get things done with his head and make allies who can balance out pragmatism and Morality. It also validates Waver's presence in the show as being more than a "remember that guy?" reference. Flat is his proxy in a sense.Finally, there's Sigma. He's more on the generic protagonist side, but he was willing to hide Jester until his conscience got the better of him. Watcher having omniscience over everything in Snowfield is a strong compensation for being powerless in combat. It's a good role.There's a lot that went on in this episode. It's all easy to follow, and much needed. I guess once everyone was introduced and their positions clear, they could finally move on with the plot.

I bought the Studio Deen Bluray of FSN and am 7 episodes in. So far I don't see any major diversions from the UBW route. Shiro is obviously a little attracted to Saber but other than that it's largely the same events so far. Unlike Heaven's Feel which was crazy and felt like a true alternative timeline where all Shiro had to do was walk Sakura home that evening. Can I expect a big divergence soon? I'm enjoying this so far. The animation is sharp, they seem to be trying to go for the visual novel style more than any other adaptation has. But the fight scenes are just not as good as ufotable, the choreography and the depiction of kinetic movement. It's not bad, just not the best.
