We have this ever growing harem roster, yet hardly any time to further develop with them. The next girl will quickly come along and the last one will practically become forgotten. He can still progress the story against fighting he Hyo, with the side characters being involved in some way.

Every action Soranaki takes that conveys an 'emotion' is really just him over-compensating since he doesn't really understand how normal people's emotions work - even this is clearly just him doing a "shocked" face without really 'getting' what that means. It's why he doesn't react at all until Gakuro explains what it is.
