A cursory look at Wikipedia shows that only 4.38% of the global seafloor is 201-1000 meters deep. It's deep enough to be far away from the coast and part of the deep sea, but still rather shallow by deep sea standards. Considering that Oda lives in Japan, the Pacific Ocean is the most likely ocean. This should narrow things down a fair bit, I think.
