Recently got around reading this. Thoughts?I quite loved it. Helen is best girl.
Overrated as fuck
>>286517820At which point are you? My favorite girl appears around volume 16.
>>286517820I dropped it when the shota goes missing and a timeskip happens. I just didn't feel like continuing with the story.
>>286517820>Thoughts?Superb.
>>286517820>ThoughtsI love it.
>>286517820>Helen is bestDamn straight. My delinquent retard Claymore.
>>286518016I finished it already!Also good taste.My ranking is1. Helen2. Yuma3. Miria4. Dietrich5. Cassandra
>>286518786Clearly something went wrong when they made her a Claymore because she never forgot how to smile and laugh unlike all the other autists.

>>286518862More like Berserk but better.
>>286518801Based ranking, mine would be Dietrich, Helen, Galatea, Miria and Clare.
>>286517906No it isn't, it's just bad.
>>286518801>YumaYes. Yes. (Verification not required)
>>286517820Too much of women and their drama
>>286518862It's edgy soap opera, so maybe yes
>>286519441She was so cute and insecure.I wonder how would she have ranked in the new gen. I don't see her beating Alicia and Beth but I can see her beating Dietrich, so probably 3rd.

Dauf was a lucky motherfucker
Ophelia is always my number 1
I liked jean.
>>286522011Imagine getting pegged every night by this

>>286517820
>>286518431
>>286517820One of my biggest erections. The end of volume 26.
>>286517820Better than Berserk.>>286518413Huh, so you missed the best part of the story.
MangaDex has truly gone downhill as a website. They want to be so corporate that the well-known title - Claymore - is now this romanized shit.
Since Beserk never properly finished, I'd say Claymore is probably one of the better dark fantasy manga out there. I appreciated that even though humans got powercrept immediately, Raki trained his whole life and was vital for the ending, even if his role lasted a second.
>>286527269Really? I guess I will give this story another chance.
>>286528181He baits you, it never gets better than that short detective arc. It's all about fights and melodrama around those fights
>>286527204
>>286528487>It's all about fights and melodrama around those fightsThat's just your regular shonen, nothing bad about that
>>286517820It was so bad i dropped it early
>>286528181Yes, I recommend giving it a second chance. You might drop it again if you don't like it, after all.>>286528487>regular action shounen stuff with a dose of mystery in an action-centered shounen manga with a dose of mystery>"hurr it's bad durr he baits you it's good"Meds!

>>286522155I liked her honestly. Her arc was really fun and unexpected and in the end she kind of redeemed herself. Well maybe redeemed is not the word but the scene where she encourages Clare was beautiful.
>>286527964You could tell he still couldn't hold a candle to the claymores but damn he looked cool anyways.

>>286522011She died in such an underwhelming way, I think while trying to avenge her husband if memory doesn't fail me. She was one of my favorites, so I found it a bit anticlimactic.>Also, really cute.

>>286517820I lost track completely of what was going on during the second half of the timeskip so I have to reread it
>I win because my arm is fast
>>286517820It's alright, way better than most battle shounen but that's not really a high bar. The art and designs are top tier even for a monthly manga.
>>286517820Some of them are clearly dyke
>>286536588In the context of (sword)fighting it does kind of make sense.
I got baited into reading it cause of the OPT Isley spread, it's 5/10 there is so much better and all the girls are the same the fight choreography tried to appear more clever than it was
>>286537228Not only in the context of fighting, I enjoy my fast hands.

>>286517820A lot of character bloat by the end, and I wish Isley and others like Luciela were more integrated with Clare's story after a point. Also Lord Dae was really funny. >>286522011Stupid bratty dauf, seducing an abyssal! Yoki correction is needed...
>>286527354Wtf, the fucking name is right there. Literally on Latin alphabet. Am I missing something ?
>>286517906Agreed. Like it had a few cool parts, but I really have no clue about why /a/ has such a hardon for such a standard boiler plate "organization hunts monsters" story
>>286542076While I really enjoyed it I'll put it clearly for you. The amount of decent and completed long running fantasy manga is simply too low. Its all either isekai tier trash or incomplete stories. In a better world Claymore would be rated a 6.5/7. In our reality it stands out and thus gets praise.
>>286517820I read it 10 years ago, I remember enjoying it, but I definitely concur with some other anons that its pretty overrated.
>>286542076If you think thats standard then you never read "organization hunts monsters" stories
>>286542401I also remember very little of what actually happens in it, but that may be because of early onset dementia.
>>286542401it was much worse reading when it was releasing but reading all of it did made me like the work more
>>286542401I don't think it's overrated, a lot of people hate Claymore.
>>286542489people really hated when the timeskip happened with raki being out of the picture for a long tiem and following new people and other groups
>>286542076I'd take "organization hunts monsters" any day over isekaislop #86756 with adventurer's guild and MMORPG logic
>>286542226No it's solely because it is Shonen Jump manga and other fantasy manga aren't so they got less exposure.
>>286533340
>>286517820I haven't read claymore in 6 years, time for a reread
>>286518801Based Cassandra appreciator. Her style was basically Tyson's peek-a-boo.
>>286540782 The bloat is real but I kinda liked how it made the world feel bigger than just Clare’s revenge tunnel. The downside is yeah, once Isley and Luciela get built up as these mythic-tier monsters you expect them to collide harder with her instead of just orbiting the plot.Luciela especially just radiates “endgame problem” energy in every panel she’s in. That smile is straight up unfair. You can tell Yagi loved drawing her more than half the cast introduced in the final arc.And Lord Dae being this shriveled little schemer in a setting full of tragic warrior women was peak. Claymore unironically cooks hardest when it leans into its weirdness instead of another power level lecture.
>>286546951Do this day I still don't know what was going on in this panel. Just looks like she's rimming someone who's taking a shit.
>>286550730>Do thisTo this*
For me, it's Cynthia.
>No Priscilla loveKinda gay
>>286552411Hee cheap shotting Teresa was disturbing and unforgivable.
>>286517820I'm a Galantea man myself.Also, Claymore thread.Hell ya
>>286553884True, Teresa is precious.
>>286522155She's always fun, livens up every scene she's in. The fakeout with Raki always pops me, her last scene is sweet and when she's realizes she's transformed is poignant.
>>286553884Her transformation scene is one of my favorite parts, very creepy and set the tone of the next arcs very well.
>>286517820unironically ANIME > MANGAthe manga went to absolute shit once Priscilla became the main big bad. Her ability is boring infinite regeneration, which is of course extremely boring since nothing works against it until the O MY TERESA one hit kill asspull at the very end.
>>286555885The anime final fight was ass and it made Raki a mega retard.
>>286555885Raki being important to killing Priscila the first time in the manga was fucking epic though.
Claymore has a lot of my favorite monster designs.
>>286556115One of the best of the manganime media imo.
For me, it's Miria
>>286556115If only they got more time.
>>286556608I'm still madthey did him dirty. It would have made sense if they showed the abyssal eaters wearing him down over like 10 chapters. But he was killed off so quickly and so easily.
I think manga escalated too quickly. Early chapters were very comfy.
>>286560005I think Helen and Deneve should have been the ones to kill him (with the justification he was weakaned by the Abyss Eaters), would have been more cathartic.
>>286560366Considering he was partially responsible for all those who died on pieta, It would have made sense to be finished off by Miria as well, it would also serve as way to show her new strength and set up the fight against the organization (with a bonus if isley was the one revealing about the continent twist instead of rubel)
>>286560005When I read it the first time I was salty, nowadays while I think Yagi could have done more with him I think his inner monologue thinking about Raki and Priscilla was sad and a good way to give him humanity before his death, plus Isley also played a role in the series even after his death, which was nice.
>>286561613no thoughts, head empty
>>286560118I kinda wish we had a continental war arc.
>>286563896A man can dream...
>>286565695Me at the bottom
>>286517820>It's OverratedYes, many people think is a masterpeice>It's TrashHell no, far from jtIt doesn't need to be a masterpiece to be good, it has many good thingsNice characters, fights, monster designs, etc. I'm on the side that it's a fun manga, with the qualities far outweighing the flaws
>>286517906at least it got an ending...
>>286565695kek
>>286542076The first half before the time-skip is solid, come on. It's the second half where it starts to fall off, mostly because nothing feels like a threat after Isley or whatever was his name (the guy Raki goes with) gets killed, then they keep pumping these Abyssals but they're just the new monster of the week. It still has good moments, mostly Miria carrying the series and Clarice's story has one of the most emotional endings. It's still a solid read, but people compare it to Berserk for some reason.>>286557650God I wish Miria could murder me.
>>286517906Berserk? Yeah, I agree.
>>286517820I like it and I'm assblasted about not being able to find new copies of it in jp, everything is second hand.
>>286567623>a fun manga.This. A dark fantasy manga that leaves you with a feeling of "this was fun" is a good manga in my book. It's not unending bleakness, like say, shitserk.
>>286517820Fun series. One of primal /a/'s classic favorites. It's hard to describe how much we memed and dreamposts about Raki coming back as a junior Guts and then the absolute mad lad actually did it. Slumped a bit in the third act, but satisfying ending.Reminder that lion man says "Superb" and nothing else.Galatea is untopped.
>>286533122>>286535994GOD I love /ss/ between a Knight and her Squire. It's what they were made for.
>>286575482Based opinion. This was such a fun manga and nothing has filled the void it left ever since it ended
>>286573634lol happyfag wouldn't understand the complexity of suffering. it gives motivation to struggle on
>>286577069What is the point of your meaningless seething post?>motivation to struggle onIn what way? You're here shitting on a good manga and trying to insist it's "bad" because it's "fun". What exactly are you "struggling on" towards, besides being resentful scum with no real opinions or ability to have an enjoyable conversation with anyone? How is this an ideal to strive towards or a virtue to praise?Resentment destroys a mind, you should try being your life's main character and not a soulless husk that only exists to be a foil to everyone else.
>>286563896I think the guy did the right call with ending the story after Priscilla. The continental war gave a bigger picture about why all the bullshit even started, but it also was not really related to the main characters.
>>286577632wow what a post of fucking nothing, you were shitting on berserk so I shat on you back? you can't take any criticism can you?
>>286577833You are a retard. If you like pointless suffering so much why don't you go eat broken glass and kill yourself, enjoy your favorite experience.Suffering must have a reason. Both Berserk and Claymore are actually similar in that regard, but Claymore manages to balance the suffering with the happiness in a more effective way in my opinion.
>>286578138well berserk isn't even finished yet and you're a fag and suffering doesn't need a reason lol, you just sound like a pussy for not enduring the pain to make you stronger
>>286567898The struggle is real.
So, there's a chance for a proper anime reboot in the not too distant future, right guys? I mean there seems to be a bit of interest about with some new statues being produced and such.
>>286581891It got a live action show, the hope is not completely gone at least.
>>286581960I have no faith at all in the live action, apart from it maybe generating more interest for other things afterwards.
>>286582315I have 0 faith either, but like you said it may generate interest for Claymore if it's popular, so there's that.
>>286582315>>286581960It's going to be a Netflix live action, so you already know how this dance goes>>286575482>Galatea is untopped.I love my smug wife

>>286584859Ngl, while the anime's original ending was a let down I still consider it a solid 7/10. The OST was great, the atmosphere was top notch and I liked the fights even if they didn't have the most fluid animation. Priscilla's awakening is one of my favorite scenes ever and the way they portrayed it with her becoming a monstrosity with her voice deepening and her appearance deforming until she kills Teresa and finally awakens for good is something I have deeply ingrained in my mind ever since I first saw it. You expect a complete abomination after seeing her slow transformation, but instead she turns into this beautiful yet fearsome abomination... The OST played there was also quite nice.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNJqBGRbaNI

Cute mother in law.
>>286596619honestly sometimes it feels like it would be a better fit for a game than a manga
I love Claymore, and it's easily my favorite manga. But I kinda don't like how Yagi kept scaling the threat, by introducing an even more dangerous threat.>Claymore fight YomaCool.>If a Claymore gives into their Yoma half, then they become an Awaken One/Voracious Eater.Oh, shit is going down now.>If a #1 ranked Claymore gives in, then they become an Abyssal One.Okay, this is for sure the endgame tier.>The Organization was able to make Abyss Feeders(Yoma Zombies) and they're a super threat.Okay?>The Organization's fuckery with Soul Linking leads to the creation of The Destroyer, and it's an even bigger threat.Fine, they brought up the cool idea of Soul Linking to counter awakening, seeing the ramifications of that is fine.>Some Claymores are so OP that they're really beyond the title of Abyssal One.Not really discussed very much, but pretty obvious of a category for people like Priscilla or Teresa. But it was pretty difficult to really be invested in anything but Priscilla(which didn't disappoint) as the main threat, when Yagi kept scaling it up. I half expected the takedown of The Organization to result in an even bigger secret threat that they had created. I was reading the fan translation as it released, and every few years there'd be an even bigger threat to deal with. It's not a big deal breaker for me, because as I said, I really love Claymore. I bought the big colelctor's box set with all 27 volumes and the artbook, and I'd probably buy it again if they released a version that had the Warrior's Dawn chapter that was never officially released in English.
>>286599330Science progress into the future. But yeah, i've never liked the yoma zombies invincibility.
>>286599330That's just shonen threat scalation progress I guess.
>>286600867I get that he was both doing the zombie craze in a way that didn't just turn it into a standard zombie post-apoc, and doing the "What if they made some Yoma-thing without the humanity", I just kept thinking "Is this the actual endgame threat".It doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the series, because what I really enjoyed was the actual Claymore comradery and the other personal stories that connected them to places or others. Yagi could have completely made a mess of the lore and enemies, and I wouldn't have dropped Claymore. Beyond that, the art is still unparalleled in my opinion.>>286601005I know, I was just hoping that it wouldn't go that way. That even though it was a monthly series, riding the standard popularity wave, that Yagi had a general direction of what he was doing. To this day, I still don't know if the idea of the Claymores being on a tiny island for testing for the larger world was dropped idea or just something that Yagi thought was resolved with the destruction of The Organization. It was brought up and seemed like it was going to be important, and then it really wasn't. It doesn't hurt my enjoyment, because I was never reading it for those moments. Just things that I noticed on a reread. When I was reading the fan translation, as it released, the nitpicks that I made in these 2 posts didn't really change my enjoyment, because I wasn't reading it for the big fights. Just thoughts that I had along the way.I was only able to ever talk about Claymore with one other person, and the Abyss Feeders were just being introduced then, so it was still largely an unknown about what was happening with them.
>>286601591Imagine the footjobs

>>286596619There is a game on the DS.
>>286603067Oh I know about that one, I emulated it, it was ok. The series does kinda lend itself to a proper 3d Soulslike game though
>>286601591I wonder what her awakened form would have look like.>it's TeresaI know but I mean her real one, not just from Teresa's parts inside her. From what we seem likely something like Alicia/Beth.
>>286596619>>286596890>>286602820You guys ever played Soulstice?
I remember dropping it once it was revealed there was ANOTHER continent and the plot was actually BIGGER than ever. I don't like when stories pull that shit. It feels forced and not something the writer thought of at first
>>286603206This looks good huh.>>286603219What anons arguing here don't realize is that the whole dragons/big continent plot was never going to be relevant, because it existed to give the Claymores an excuse to simply quit killing Yoma and lead happy lives in the end. I never assumed they would travel to the continent. It was just because their fight to release themselves with the organization clashed with the fact the organization was protecting humans. By making it all a grand experiment island and Yoma the result of the organization, the Claymores are completely justified in saying fuck you to it all.
>>286517820Character design limps and I kept confusing different claymores for each other, but overall the art was great
>>286540782>>286549475It's been a long time since I read this, what happened with that character?>>286603206I really liked it. It definitely nails the Claymore vibes. Countering with Lute and the aura stuff is a bit weird though.
>>286605108Unless I remember wrong, Luciela ends up "killed" by her sister, then it's revealed that they fused together into a flesh-statue that eventually turns into a big bad that starts to wreak havoc all around, like the other big bads towards the end that show up before we finally get Priscilla one-upping every single one of them with her biggest badness.

>>286602820>>286596619I'd picture a Witcher style semi-open world action RPG where the core mechanic is the player crafting their attacks out of movesets. Start off with basic attack, block, dodge and start being able to combine moves together to make your own like (dash toward enemy)+(charge damage)+(move past enemy) or (circle around enemy)+(power attack). Essentially make your own Claymore "signature move".Looking at older RPGs that allowed you to custom create your own spells like Morrowind.
>>286614947Seriously though, what the fuck was her problem?
its worth it for clares backstory alone, the rest is hit or miss. the designs are always cool though and the girls are cute so eh.

>>286616438The anime is pretty good for what it is. They made it too early, and should have waited for the manga to be over, because the anime original episodes don't work as an ending either.
>>286599330>But it was pretty difficult to really be invested in anything but Priscilla(which didn't disappoint) as the main threat,I felt the opposite to be honest. I would have preferred if Priscilla hadn't been endgame because she's an incredibly boring antagonist to me. Can't really remove her from the plot since she's linked to Raki and Isley so whenever I re-read the story I just know at some point all the really interesting claymores are going to get replaced by the reanimated ones and the final fight will be kind of lame. I liked the Destroyer though, that could have been the endgame imo.
>>286614947>>286614828>>286615781Why was her Awakened Form such a fucking lame jobber? It didn't even have anything related to her technique copying unlike Hysteria's speed or Cassandra's silly wobbly fighting style.
>>286618560Priscilla was always a known threat and we watched her constantly holding back. It was constant edging of "Is this the moment of her fucking everyone up?" and that's great. The Destroyer was fun though.
>>286615975Some people just want to see the world burn.
>>286619024>It was constant edging of "Is this the moment of her fucking everyone up?" and that's great.I agree, it was great but I just don't think Priscilla lived up to the hype in the end. She was just a statblock until she started assimilating more interesting combat styles from the other awakened ones and then she's right back to just being faster and having instant regen except now she's fighting someone else on her level that I have very little satisfaction in watching. I won't say the ending of Claymore is bad, it's just a personal preference thing since more compelling antagonists existed.
Riful > Priscilla
>>286619476I agree that as a fighter she wasn't very interesting. But damn if her first defeat with Raki wasn't satisfying.
>>286533122>>286571760>>286621415It's surprising how little non-h art I've seen from the series main couple, then again they don't show that much interaction between them even after the timeskip
>>286603206>>286603818>>286611402>>286613559been a while since i played it but allow me to give you my takecons-very samey looking levels-some of them drag on for too long-color-coded enemies-Lute's counters and auras feel kinda awkward to play around at firstpros+7 weapons with distinct playstyles (Sword, Hammer, Whip, Bow, Knives, Gauntlets and Cannon Tonfas)+boss and enemy variety+combat in general just feels good+heavily inspired by Claymore and Berserk+interesting world-buildingothers depending on taste~fixed camera in combat (don't remember having too many problems with it)~a giant skill tree (not all of them are that useful)~both sisters, Briar and Lute, voiced by Stefanie Joosten (Quiet, MGSV:Phantom Pain)(you really don't notice that they're voiced by the same person)~dual character dynamic is quite unique (primarily controlling Briar for movement and melee combat, using Lute for counter and support)~ending sets up a sequelSimalerities to Claymore and BerserkOrganization of monsterfied human warriors called chimeras (instead of infusing them with flesh and blood of this setting's monsters they let them get corrupted/possessed by them) able to release their monster energy for a power boost (slit pupils and monster mouth included). In order to not get comletely corrupted every chimera has their (there are males too) personal ghost Schierke (keeping their mind in check, sensing monsters, support them in battle), later in the game you unlock a move/mode for Briar that lets her fight like Guts when he first puts on the berserker armor, at the end of which Lute needs to pull her back or you'll get a game over. They get governed by men in black who assign them new missions and sometimes give them new gadgets for their assignments. Obviously they know much more than they let on and are responsible for some of the fuckery going on too. Guts expy named Donovan (lol).
>>286621931Already got it since its so cheap, I'll give it a try, though the thread will be far dead before I can report.
>>286522011I remember someone long ago theorizing that riful, isley and rigaldo were the remnants of the original nobility of the island before the organization took over
>>286622067Why does Dauf look like Raki here lol?
>>286615975Whatever it was, sounds like my ex-wife had the same. Amirite, guys?
>>286623431i never had a girlfriend/wife
Huh. Just started rereading and there's the thread on /a/. (I also want Ophelia to kick me in the nuts)
>>286624505I'm afraid Ophelia is the one that's getting a good kicking
>>286575482>effortlessly gathers a harem of little girlsWho can stop this man?
>>286613559Lmao I was going to reply saying it had too much dropped potential, enough for me to keep up hope for improvements in a sequel, only to find out the sequel was canceled
>>286626947Aaaand this is how I find out. Shit.
>>286626947didn't need to hear that
headpats for clare
>>286611402kek based. always been curious so ill try it out now
>>286626947Man.
>>286626947Damn, the game was decent enough and i really liked the atmosphere and setting and was really looking forward to a sequel.Cant have shit in this modern jewed hell i guess...
>>286621931You know what, for merely three monies, I think I'll buy it
Someone needs to do a daily for this so I can read it.
Would you have sex with a Claymore?
>>286632962What sort of question is that? Of course I would.
>>286632962uhhhh... so what happens if she rips open by accident and you cum all over the yoma flesh inside of her?
>>286633139Nothing some stitches cannot solve.
>>286632962Yes, but I admit I do find the stitches thing creepy. I'd be fearing they open all the time.
>>286633961Considering The way they move and fight, I think they can withstand even a little rough play
>>286632962Yep
>>286632962just one?
>>286635103What a dork.
>>286638003You wouldn't expect those in a manga like this.
Good fight scenes and that's about it
>>286638003A cute dork
Sex isn't really mentioned in Claymore.Just hinted with Ritual and DaufWonder if the author didn't want to thrust bait the readers.
>>286640284>Sex isn't really mentioned in Claymore. They were going to gang rape Claire near the start, and Claire scared them all away with her chest scars.
>>286640284ophelia fingers her slit
>>286633139In nine months you have a little miracle to take care of.
>>286641225Wasn't Teresa the one who did that?
Is this considered fantasy?
>>286643456Are you serious
>>286640284I'm pretty sure Roxanne and Cassandra did more than just huddling together
>>286641225I know it's presented as a way to indicate the reader that whatever is under the clothes is disgusting enough to turn off bandits, but then you finally get the scar reveal and it's not that big of a deal specially after having witnessed mountains of body horror across the whole series at that point
>>286641401Probably. I just remember it happening early, so I guessed it was Claire.
>>286645302Yeah, I wonder if it was supposed to be way worse, and then Yagi was like "nah, I ain't drawing something complex every time".
>>286533122>sapphicyou will NEVER be a woman.
>>286645302Maybe it's something you can't experience outside of in person.Maybe the scars smell bad or move or something.
>>286647356i could maybe see it scaring people off if it looked infected and inflammed>or movewould be cool
