Just finished watching it and honestly the manga is way better. The finale was extremely rushed and a huge letdown and the epilogue wasn’t even adapted other than the very final moment, which was like 5 seconds of screen time. Why they did that entire new play thing, which wasn’t in the manga, is beyond me, because it was a waste of time at the end of the anime. The tournament was much more rushed than even the manga. They butchered the title drop from chapter 158 and the title drop is now just some passing remark from Yahya. The entire Zoolympics subplot was crap; Ogma should have died and Louis should have done his succession speech. The whole Legoshi is a criminal because he was at the tattoo shop for 2 seconds was poorly played out. I appreciate the studio adapting B Strike this time, keeping the “new” scenes with the same spirit of the original manga scenes, Azuki feeling more fleshed out, not showing Melon’s dad and not including Kyu and making Shitler more relevant but there were so many things that could have been better. Melon’s fight and him shooting himself sucked compared to the manga.. The Melon chase was terrible compared to the manga, which is one of the best parts of the manga. Juno getting screwed over wasn’t the shock it was because they barely even built her and Louis together. And what about Azuki + Louis? Not even mentioned at the end. I hope Science Saru does a remake since they did a good job with Sanda.
>>286566503>ending even worse than the mangaI didn't think it would be possible. That's disappointing
>>286566563They don't seem to be very good at pacing for some reason.S2 was like that too where they tried to add original content to flesh out the murder mystery arc better, but then for some reason realize they've gotten through half the season and only covered a quarter of the story and have to speed run the rest.
owari da
>>286557243was pretty hyped since S3 Part 1 was my favourite season by far, but i still remind myself to be cautious rather than getting my hopes up. S3's Part 2 is an example why.>yahya written out of the plot>melon's scenes with haru were GOAT tier, but that excitement is gone as soon as
haru is under the protection of gosha and louis
.>melon didn't have enough presence. hilariously, neither the viewer nor the characters themselves have any clue where tf melon is. apparently after the legoshi crashed his party he felt like being a professor instead of doing crime shit and just temporarily ditched the shishigumi? and when he lost his professor job, he probably fucked around to stalk haru? cool - how about you show this to us?!>i'm fine with kyuu getting axed, though it's weird how they mentioned her this season anyhow with those fan posters>the whole thing with louis and azuki was pointless, they have no development, it just ends with "cool, let's be about business only then"they should have taken a few interesting parts of the manga but the rest should have been anime original to serve a cool story. the drama club plot was uninteresting, we left that shit behind in season 2 and for good reason. in season 2 and season 3 part 1 we leave the school setting behind and get more mature stuff, only to return to the boring highschool again in the finale?!i get that they axed melon's backstory (mostly), hard to show a child getting molested without cranking up the age rating for the show. but why did they cut him groping haru out before embracing her? we saw legoshit fondle haru way back in the first season already.
>>286570035cont.i'm giving it a 3/10 from just comparing it to the previous season, plus unanswered questions this season left behind.>yahya the beastar losing all relevance in the show>melon's drug empire going nowhere; guess mass slaughter in the streets thanks to melda/deer dung would have been to nasty for the netflix audience?>louis' james bond tier story of the previous season is forgotten when he could have used his connection to azuki to find out how kines came to be mass-produced in the first place; they must have had some connection to melon to make that shit>speaking of melon having acquaintances in high places - the mayor knows about him, yet is eager to throw legoshit under the bus regarding the latest murder spree; this could have been another thing for louis to solve, instead his whole arc is nothing but being an influencer/PR figure>the anime for some reason decides to copies the most annoying characteristic of the manga's final arc, which is to jump from one meaningless cliffhanger to the next; like showing that a murder happened at the shoe store Ms. Seven works at, only to reveal that she's totally fine right in the next scene anyway>mixed blood scent as melon's kryptonite to get the final fight over with quickly>it's gotta suck to be an agata fan, he becomes melon's spineless lapdog by the end of the seasonbut if you're a manga reader and therefore aware of how much actually cool shit is missing, oh boy. 2/10 at best.>anime melon is chill about the appearance of new leopard spots; manga melon fucking lost his shit>no yahya saving melon and getting bit in the process; this robs yahya of character development, going from the relentless punisher of carnivores with a disregard for hybrids to showing mercy to a carnivore hybrid who's probably the least deserving of his mercy>no scene of melon reading his fanmail; pissed me off ngl>should have shown a little of melon's lecture instead of the stupid drama club plot
>>286570309melon and haru should have fucked. there, i said it.people hate haru for not being a pure virgin waifu anyway. she's fucked the entire city, what difference would one more notch in her bedpost make anyway?
>>286570309almost forgot,>decent amount of fatmeans>decent tits for an animal her sizeright?
It's funny how one of the recurring pacing problems is "we skipped everything that would have established this, so now we just have to exposition dump it right now as it's happening"

>>286571172no carnivore wants to chew on skinny bones fr fr

>>286557243I've only seen the first two episodes and it's very good. I can't watch the whole season in one go.The downside is that by the time I finish watching it in ten days, there won't be any threads or anyone talking about this series anymore.
I will say it's a neat perk of taking forever to make that they get to benefit from post series content. It's cute to see them establish the Beast Complex 25 Legoshi wants to be an entomologist arc early.
>>286557243I only watched the first season. The love interest being used goods and the town bicycle made me lose all interest.
>>286571406Aw but isn't it cute how she falls for such a turbo virgin that she starts going insane from the lack of sex that entails.
>>286571352yeah, i was hopeful at first too. the season falls off a cliff after the first half, when melon and haru stop carrying the show.>>286571304legosi deserved to die a virgin. judging by >>286571478 haru is suffering because whenever she tries to be physical he almost suffers a breakdown about his instincts and how awful it is to be born a carnivore.to make matters worse, this season establishes that legoshi has a tiny dick, judging by him saying>t-that's all i've gotor something. i assume that's why they cut the scene of melon pulling haru against his groin, or she'd trade legosi for melon right away.
>>286571563Legoshi canonically has a big dick according to women that groped him
>>286571478Okay that just makes it x10 worse. Why is it that in every manga about a white knight dating a whore they always blueball the protagonist for years? It's fucking weird how that's a cliché and not an isolated case.
>>286557243this shit got old a long time ago
>>286571663it's meant to show that the white knight isn't dating the whore for sex, unlike everyone else. the white knight earns virtue points by denying himself what everyone else already got and took for granted.legoshi is a wet towel of a protagonist. luckily we have melon around to distract us from legoshit's shittiness.
HOW COULD THEY DO THAT
>>286572488checkedthe writer of this season lacked sovl.i refuse to believe that this season and the previous one had the same writer. i wonder if that's why darren criss ended up ditching his role as melon?
>>286570378Yeah it is funny that part one they give Louis this entire arc that is just him investigating to find out the stuff everyone else already knows and nothing else.I guess at least it streamlines the part where he joins up with Legoshi.
>>286573108haru's pussy could have fixed melon. (canon)
>>286573739
My opinion is, it's a hot mess, but it's a new hot mess from the hot mess the original arc was, so at least it's something unique. They couldn't fix it, but the effort was appreciated.
I'll watch this tomorrow probably but from what people are saying my hopes are not up at all.I'm forever mad with how Melon was treated. He is a genuinely great character (for most of his time on screen, anyways) and getting shafted in the final arc both times is unfortunate. Could have been handled so much better and he'd go down as a really iconic manga villain, but now he's just an infamous one due to the shittiness of the end of the series.
I gotta say, Paru forgot about Shadow Legoshi almost immediately, it was wild to see the anime bring it back. The deepest cut callback.
>>286573739Give him an STD maybe
The ending is fumbled still as things were moving a million miles a minute and I feel like it only makes sense if you read the manga first and understand all of what was going on there. But I still love it because Haru is more of an entity here and has really great scenes and makes cute faces. Don't deny that incorporating the bunny stomp into her character for when she's angry was not peak.
>>286562907She just wanted to reference her dads manga, but forgot her audience was totally different from her dads...
>>286574549with part 1 of the 3rd season taking such great care to introduce melon, and with how much presence he had in the manga by that point, i expected much MUCH more of him. he basically became legoshi's co-protagonist, not just the villain who makes an occasional appearance. as a result his characterization isn't even present in the anime. him getting angry over his inability to taste food? not there.him being jealous of normies for having friends and a social life? nope.him panicking over new leopard spots? him getting triggered by the mere sight of them, leading to him brutally murdering the madaragumi leader? nope, nothing at all.alas, i wanted to see some action with yahya too. maybe a rematch between him and melon even. but they cut him out entirely. Wtf was going on in that writer's room?
>>286578016she was actually given some story last season about wanting to open a restaurant which can serve veggies for both carnivores and herbivores to enjoy. centered around taste like that, i thought it was a unique angle to approach the melon & haru arc. but this season forgets about that entirely and defaults to manga-content only. i was glad to see more of her but she still got robbed imo.
and yes, the stomp was cute.
that's what makes these two parts so different. season 3's part 1 wasn't afraid to head into unchartered waters with lots of changes. kines being a big thing, louis actually being a badass and striking out on his own like a rogue detective, etc etc. part 2 has none of this innovation, they just revert to copying manga's stories and never take them any further. instead they fill up leftover screentime with boring plots like the drama club, the zoolympics, legoshit hiding in the sewers and the occasional fanservice, like louis visiting the shishigumi for no reason except to show some "time spent with the bros", tao and kibi scenes, juno pining for louis to appease the shippers and so on.final season ruined by previous season's writer checking out and no one else being able to pick up the slack. many such cases.
sex with haru
all shall be forgiven if they give us a well-written melon show with 5 seasons with 20 episodes each. funny how paru hasn't touched melon's whereabouts at all since beastars ended. all we know is that he escaped prison.
>>286557243furry shit
>>286574075that's just the thing. they could have, but they didn't for reasons we'll never know. maybe they just weren't brave enough to cherrypick the manga's strengths and use it as a foundation to build something mostly original, yet cool and interesting to watch?in the final season almost all characters aren't really doing anything the entire time until whoopsie, time for le epic end fight! with the exception of melon, who's always doing something, so they cut him out for most of the show and deem him as "missing", even from the POV of his lion underlings. even the usual social or ethical commentary falls flat this time around, which is a new low in the anime's writing.people keep saying the season was rushed when it really wasn't. it was deliberately wasted.
>>286578016Cutee
>>286579621I do wonder who at the team is so bad at endings. It's so funny we just railroad back onto the turf war tournament arc after rewriting the story such that this version of the characters really don't seem like they would enter the turf war any more, they just do it anyways because that's how the manga ends.
It’s funny how Beastars is a victim of its own popularity twice.Towards the end Paru really feels like she doesn’t want to be writing any more. And now even Orange feels like they don’t want to do this given they thought they were signing up for a high school drama.
>>286582044>>286582169>no scene of legoshi choking between ten's juicy thicc thighs0/10 wolfshit season
>>286580752in her defense, paru was crunched to near-death when her publisher spontaneously demanded more beastars chapters. studio orange however has no excuse. batman & joker >>>>> highschool shit
So people like Melon now? I remember when the manga was coming out he was singled out as the main reason for it going to shit due Itagaki fixating on him like a husbando and turning him into a massive mary sue who hogged all screentime
>>286583746i think the issie was that at this point it shifted drasticslly the direction of this series, also legoshi scrsthching his back never lead to anything
>>286583746melon has always been a fan favourite. a noisy bunch on reddit doesn't change that.>iconic "face of a scoundrel" line not in the animeugh.
Now I wonder if Daren Criss didn’t come back because of how reduced Melon’s role is in Part 2
>penis scene ruinedwhy isn't this sexual anime allowed to be sexual
>no big titty hare waifuwhat's the point
I haven't watched since season 2. Did they at least kept the whale and Legoshi living in the apartment? I can see Melon was kept but what about Batman Horse?
>>286583746Melon is THE best villain of all time and no one else can come close!
>>286583977It’s so funny to me they cut him being groped and identified as very large so they can imply he’s on the small side instead.I guess they wanted to imply it might work out fit wise
>>286578584I'd prefer if they didn't stray too far away from the manga, no matter how shit it is. I prefer that they take what they can from the manga and make a coherent story out of it. They were doing a decent job right until the end where shit got too fast and resolved too quickly.
>>286583934yeah, i figured he took one look at the script and noped outta there. still grateful for his performance in part 1, i'll forever keep that torrent on my hard drive. fuck netflix.>>286584281>whalenope>apartmentyes>dark batman horseyahya only matters in part 1oh, and the anime retcons melon having actually gone through the academic circus to get a valid degree. fuck studio orange.
>>286584281He does live in the apartment, but they cut basically the entire slice of apartment life filler arc for time, cutting out all the neighbors besides Seven and Saguan
You know, it's never actually brought up why prey don't carry stun guns and pepper spray more. Haru carries a whole arsenal now. I guess it looks bad optically, like prey aren't actually trusting the predators, but with how predation does happen, it's not like they can complain.
>>286585251>fillerLegoshi is growing as a character as he learns more about the outside world and meets all of his neighbors despite being a socially awkward recluse. And it goes over a lot of themes / social commentary too. I wish they adapted more of it, but I’m happy they adapted B Strike this time.
>>286585366>haru tasers the shit out of gosha>melon watching from the rooftops, laughing his ass offBRAVO HARU
>>286557243I found the whole final arc of the manga to be dogshit and the ending abysmal, really Gosha from last season was the last thing I was looking forward to see adapted so my motivation to watch that trainwreck once again is pretty low, so I want to know, do they keep the original ending or are they doing anime original stuff?
>>286585651anime ending leaves out a lot so i'd argue it's worse than the manga, which does provide an epilogue. gosha has like 2 small scenes and one 5min or so scene with haru that shows his marriage with toki (a little bit).
>Paru>HaruI'm so fucking retarded, I just noticed that
>>286583746I think that Melon was a very good character, but from his introduction the entire manga started to go haywire so people may conflate the 2 things.
>>286585651You know how Season 2 tries to do its own thing and then near the end it’s like the go “oh shoot, we only have a few episodes left” and then has to super super fast speed through the manga ending of the arc?Basically the same thing but over 24 episodes instead of 12
>>286585757>>286585883Sounds like a skip then. Fuck, I can feel that Paru can eventually make something genuinely good with no if and buts, she's almost there, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm delusional.
>>286586199We’ll have to see, she’s doing some wild stuff with the high school murder mystery premise this time around, but it feels like she isn’t fleshing out any of her villains like she usually does.
>>286586199clearly paru maxxed out her character design skillset so she didn't have enough skill points left for story writing skills.
“What if Revenge of the Love Failure was being a serial killer that only kills interspecies couples” is an idea, but it’s an odd idea to drop in halfway into an arc without any prior setup in the first half.Especially when you kinda just have to make him get bored of that in order to segue back into the turf war.
Netflix needs to greenlight at least 2 epilogue episodes. One dealing with Legoshi meeting Haru's family, and one for a god-damned wedding.Let us have that, ffs.
It feels like Orange ended up being a bad fit for the series.S1 worked pretty well but the story diverged from the school setting and you can tell they struggled with that.Like every omission has the simple explanation of they just didn’t want to spare the budget to create the cg characters models for it.
Not gonna lie, for the last stretch of this adaptation, giving it an isolated instrumental for the intro feels kinda underwhelming
>>286588060Arts nice at least. They even figured out how to homage manga panels without it feeling like a ripoff of the marvel studios logo
>>286583746>peopleyumes
I thought it was good. Having Melon obsessed with eating Haru because he believes he can absorb her love, warmth, and kindness to make him feel something; as well as believing she's the only meat that would have any taste to him because she is not chronically stressed about her mortality adds a personal layer to why Legoshi doesn't just leave Melon up to the police and Yahya to handle. It's an interesting way to involve Haru in the story without it feeling super contrived.
>>286587065it would have been okayish if that was just one of his crimes that would eventually lead to legoshi getting after his trail again. it was completely underwhelming compared to his original motivation of causing total anarchy by taking advantage of society's greatest weak spot, that being the uneasy union of herbivores and carnivores. to top things off, his holy grail was also to kill yahya, the almighty beastar feared by all carnivores but him. the whole purpose of melon's secret party in part 1 was to lure yahya there and then watch him be torn apart by the other party guests drugged up and turned into total savages by melda. i don't know why they'd suddenly nerf his ambitions like that; were they afraid of age restrictions if there was too much bloodshed and sexual stuff on screen? i get that they didn't go into melon's backstory because child molestation is a big taboo, but beasts getting turned into frenzied killing machines couldn't have been too much?him randomly abandoning the shishigumi only to turn up out of nowhere is shitty too. why would the guy who ruled the gang with an iron fist loosen his grip on power?tl;dr>melon vs yahya conflict: GONE>melon vs shishigumi conflict: GONE (mostly; the lions whine about him for a sec but then immediately become his lapdogs again, rip agata fans)
>>286588685Yeah I was impressed with that because it does just feel forced in the manga.Legoshi never even finds out that the stakes are raised in that way
>>286588685>adds a personal layer to why Legoshi doesn't just leave Melon up to the police and Yahya to handledid you miss the part of legoshi intending to drag melon to the police to get his devouring record deleted from his file so he's legally able to marry haru?that aside, yes, melon & haru arc was the only good thing about this season. i guess that's why they used it to tease the season all this time. too bad paru didn't dig further into it. the anime only expands on it a tiny little bit.
>>286588937Agata really gets a rough deal from the remix. He’s forced into every scene where something bad is about to happen to him and something steps in to save him but now all those rescues don’t happen any more.
>>286588937Maybe having furry Joker who just wants to watch the world burn didn't feel right or isn't super thematically aligned with what Beastars is. Having Melon's motivations more grounded and personal makes him more compelling in a way. He's killing interspecies couples because he believes he's protecting society from producing abominations like himself or something.
>>286589080I get that, but I always felt that was too sterile of a reason, and it has no reason to have Haru in the story at all, which is what the manga sorely lacked.
I find it funny that they have Melon ask if Legoshi would prefer a worth with devouring or a surveillance state but cut out where their world IS a surveillance state and that’s how Melon gets away.
>>286589187he's killing interspecies couples to prevent other hybrids from being born, who he believes would lead nothing but lives of suffering. it's an extension of both his hatred of how society views and treats him as well as his self-hatred for being a "defective" beast who lacks basic senses like a sense of taste or sex drive.but doing occasional murders when we know their society is currently shifting towards interspecies couples being a fashionable trend of sorts is like a drop in the ocean. that's why disturbing society with terror attacks would be more effective to achieve that goal; it would sow general distrust between herbivores and carnivores again (even more than seems to be standard already) and could lead to segregation, civil war, what have you. deshico likewise feels that herbivores and carnivores living together is a crime against nature, that's why the two end up working together on kines and melda to hijack society.alas, it just wasn't meant to be it seems.melon >>>>> orange
Finished now. It felt pretty rushed in the second half.Is the manga that much better than this? For the longest time, people were saying it would turn out the opposite.
>>286589639>Is the manga that much better than this?Yes, but this is coming from someone who really loves the manga and re-reads it every year with the physical volumes.
>>286589383it felt like a clumsy way of showing off melon's mindset in just one scene. i can't believe legoshit suddenly argued in favor of a totalitarian surveillence state. the first thing that came to my mind was benjamin franklin's famous quote>They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.not saying melon's stance of preferring total anarchy is better, but jesus.
as a yahya fan - fuck orange for making yahya look like a retard. part 1 had the perfect set-up for yahya's arc.>we're all the same. and saving those poor, insignificant lives, is my job, for better or worse.he's sitting on his high horse (pun intended) believing how moral and just he is because he protects prey animals from carnivorous savages in his pov. after years of dealing with ruthless carnivores he considers them to be lesser beings that have to be kept in check for society to work (and he isn't all that wrong about this either). hybrids don't exist in his mindset, he projects his perfectionism onto society and blemishes like melon don't even register.yahya could have gotten a great reality check about his hypocrisy of claiming that all lives are equal, while actually believing hybrid lives are too insignificant even to him, after the final battle when melon asks>if herbivores and carnivores can truly coexist peacefully, then why did I have to live a life of nothing but suffering?but all the anime does is give us a scene of carnivore orphans are be like>yahya does bad things btw, look at the poor kids!as much as melon got shafted this season, yahya got it much, much worse.
>>286583746i'm afraid this criticism may be part of the reason why his role is suddenly so reduced in S3 part 2 despite him being an essential character in the final arc. no sympathy for the studio nonetheless, the writers should be above social media whining and focus on the story they want to tell.
>>286590408The best thing they did for him was render his freaky zebra tail as a horse tail in a blue wrapping
>>286557243So. The ending. Whatever happened there?I didn't read the manga and I'll admit to being a turbo normie anime watcher but holy fuck there are so many threads left hanging, it didn't feel satisfying at all. Melon survived apparently but Jack says "but we don't know his condition". Motherfucker he was the main villain of this whole season and we aren't even dignified with at least that knowledge? Come on man. I was sweating bullets when I started the final episode and came to the horrifying realization that there was still so much shit to wrap up, I thought it was at least going to be a double length ep. Nope, it all gets crammed in 20 minutes.Such a disappointment. I was so hyped for this season too since I loved (and still do) the series, but I don't know, it has left me hanging. I've been thoroughly blueballed
>>286590847Manga is even more fucked. The anime tried to salvage the process of getting to the ending, but didn't seem to have time to actually resolve it, either.I was hoping the last episode was Legoshi meeting Haru's family epilogue, but I also was horrified that the second to last episode didn't wrap everything up.
>>286590847In the most apparent example of the author going "you know what, I don't want to do this any more" ending Paru avoids showing as much of the final boss battle as possible and then just has it all abruptly end.
>>286590847>Motherfucker he was the main villain of this whole season and we aren't even dignified with at least that knowledge?i assume they try to bait people into buying the manga.anyway, melon survives (manga readers know that 1 bullet isn't enough to kill a roided hybrid, the anime omits that info). he's sent to prison and receives a shit ton of fanmail, pic related. at some point he escapes. anime makes it seem like he never even made it to prison and just escaped from the hospital. his status after his escape is unknown. i find it curious that paru isn't touching him in beast complex despite melon clearly being her favourite character by the end of the beastars manga series.
I like Louis.
>>286591139based.
>should the troubled relationship louis has with his father be explored in the anime?>nah, just let the butler tell louis cliché shit about doing everything for his best cuz he loves him yadda yadda

>>286592260Ogma literally couldn’t calculate his relation with Louis in business terms in chapter 165 because he loves him. They embrace each other on Ogma’s death bed if I remember it correctly. The anime omits this because they remove the event that causes this for the mayor bullshit so Ogma is never shown as who he really is with Louis.
>haru interacts with juno>haru interacts with louis>haru interacts with gosha>haru interacts randomly with ogmaThat redeems the season all on its own.
>>286592365>Ogma is never shown as who he really is with Louisyep. there truly isn't anything about the final season that doesn't shit on the characters. only haru is boosted by the anime simply for getting screentime.

>>286591105>i assume they try to bait people into buying the manga.Dude I had the exact same thought, surely they aren't so little-hatted to do it on purpose, I hope. I want to believe this is not the case because the thought grazed me to buy the manga although it would obviously be on unfair terms if it were true.>his status after his escape is unknown.Wait so the actual manga ends with this psycho on the loose with no knowledge whatsoever of his whereabouts? Damn so much for a happy ending for Lego & co, they'll have to watch their backs for the rest of their lives.Whatever the case thank you kindly for the info anon-kun, 'preciate it, it's making the abrupt ending go down a bit easier, at least I'm getting some closure

>>286592938>surely they aren't so little-hatted to do it on purposelollmao>Wait so the actual manga ends with this psycho on the loose with no knowledge whatsoever of his whereabouts?technically the manga ends with melon in prison. the mangaka paru itagaki then states in a farewell letter to the characters that melon escapes prison within a year. his escape is also hinted at in one of the beast complex chapters, the manga spinoff series released after beastars was finished. desu melon's escape isn't really surprising, who could ever stop furry joker himself?
so they just proved as usual that manga is better, fuck orange so much, i hope nagabe never allows them to adapt his works.
>>286592938>I want to believe this is not the case because the thought grazed me to buy the manga although it would obviously be on unfair terms if it were true.oh, i almost forgot - you can find the entire beastars manga online for free. then you can decide to purchase or not based on how you like it.
they killed the chicken in the animefuck this shit.

>>286592436>haru saves the show by existing
It's the Black Market and a turf war between rival gangs, what is gained from changing it from a free for all battle to a peaceful mini game that Melon devolves into a free for all battle?
>>286594523bad writing.the idea of a "peaceful war" between black market mafia gangs is laughable. melon did nothing wrong and i enjoyed watching him beat the everliving shit out of legoshi.
>>286594695At any rate, it's very fortunate for a team that left only two episodes aside to depict the turf war that it's supposed to be a free for all that plays out like a tournament arc.Lets them just make it a proper free for all as a way to skip right to the final boss battle almost instantly.
>>286573739puta
Legoshi, you can't just say that to the Joker, that's his trigger phrase.
>>286557243I gave up sometime at the point where a single student took down a whole armed crime organization (nearly) on his own. Afaik it just gets more retarded from there onwards.I wish Studio Orange would get around to getting us more Hoseki no Kuni because manga was already enough of the clusterfuck that I dream of getting it animated...
>>286595243To be fair Gouhin did the heavy lifting. They had to cut the part where he guns most of them down from the anime version.
>>286595196>w-we can't just do whatever we want! :(>lol, lmao *BANG*i think the main reason why i loved melon from the start is because he just dabs on legoshi's endless self-flagellation about morals and ethics.
You know, as funny as it is that they cut out the title drop and have nowhere else to put it besides "In the end, they really were the Beastars", it is more fitting to Legoshi's character that way.It was a very uncharacteristically shonen moment for Legoshi who's always just wanted to live a simple normal life to suddenly go "let's become the world paragons"
>>286594956prude
I get what they were going for with making a parallel to the Boss Lion takedown, but it's wild to start the final episode with 18 chapters to cover AND an anime original ending scene on top of that.
>>286595681
Kinda sad they couldn't incorporate Kyuu even for 10 minutes for something, but I guess she's so irrelevant to the main plot I can see why she's relegated to cameo.
>>286597598The curse of the CG series, where if you aren't important enough for how unique your character design is, then they're not going to spring to create a model for you.
>>286597939They seem to have made it anyway, as we get to see lots of pictures of her on the wall. There's just nothing for her to add narratively to the plot.

>>286592436>Legoshi no longer gets to interact with Haru's family
I've only read the manga (ending pissed me off so much so I'll never watch the anime) but I wanna use this thread to ask real fast. What the actual fuck was the deal with the flashback about Legosi's grandma just killing herself pointlessly for no reason? Did they keep that in the anime because in a sea of retarded bullshit in the last legs of the manga that segment still sticks out to me as being just impossibly fucking retarded.
They don't even have the balls to include the dumbest scene in the entire manga.
>>286598436They keep it, but they rewrite it such that she just defiantly hopes she’ll survive rather than accepting that she’ll die if she does it
>>286598447Which is funny because it would work as them trying over and over again to create the drug that can defeat melon.
>>286598461That still sounds dumb but I think it's just so bad in the manga that sounds like its a 100x better way to write that scene.
>>286598505What’s not to get? You deprive your lover of physical affection you slowly kill them inside.Sometimes literally. It’s why they write it such that the story is now being told directly to Haru, so she has the motivation to just outright make Legoshi kiss her rather than continue to take his constantly backing out
>>286598534>What’s not to get? You deprive your lover of physical affection you slowly kill them inside. They weren't deprived of physical affection his fucking grandpa had a whole arsenal of cleaning and medical supplies to make sure she was kept safe. She got rid of the cleaning supplies on her own. You can say it's poetic, sure, but it's fucking retarded.
>>286598560I don’t know if you know this anon, but a peck on the cheek followed by a scrub down like your a kid being cleaned by your mom isn’t romantic
>>286594426I do like how they tried to add a few more expressions to the characters in this season. They still can't be as flexible as the manga, of course, but at least they aren't such static models that they were in the first season.
>>286598613That's why now the story is being told to Haru, she understands it's a metaphor for not being afraid to kiss Legoshi, fully accepting the risk that he could hurt her.
>>286598613It's a lot better than being fucking dead.
>>286598447THEY REMOVED THAT TOO??? I HATE ORANGE SO MUCH.
>>286558487They introduce Bojack Beastar who basically does nothing despite his name being in the title
I liked it. So sad that we won't get any more Beastars content unless they're planning Beast Complex shorts or something.
>>286599353They really wrote themselves into a corner with the Legoshi framed for murder sublot they came up with. They don't even take the time to establish or explain that he has to publicly oppose Legoshi while privately helping him through the rats. You just kinda gotta go with that vibe from the way he does nothing until he shows up at the very end to help clear Legoshi's name.
>>286599201The komodo venom also doesn't heal him for negative damage making his teeth grow back, so I suppose it's good they also changed that so he only pulls his canines out and not all of his teeth.
>>286599638Why did the rats help Legoshi anyway? Weren’t they the ones who suspected him of secretly working for Melon?
>>286599803It's not explained, you have to assume Yahya sent him to do that off the record to support him since he knows Legoshi didn't do it but can't act against the public all accepting that he did.Hence him showing up at the very end to clear Legoshi's name like he planned it all that way.
>>286591795They didn't do the scene where his dad tries calculate Louis's value and can't come up with an answer and it's oddly oner of the more touching scenes in the manga? What the fuck happened to this studio?
>>286600006I mean, he does tell Louis he's proud of him in the ending, since he doesn't die in this version. That's something.
>>286600033That's fucking gay. I'm actually a little mad. I was looking forward to seeing it animated. They nailed the first few seasons.. No idea what happened with this one. Stargaze is really shitty too when Stampede was at least alright.
>>286600097There's too much ground to cover, so they couldn't get to everything. They could probably have cut the drama club stuff to make room for more Louis, Legoshi, and Haru stuff, but I guess they wanted it to be well-balanced so it's not myopic.
>>286600316Paru likes them big.
>>286592054Didn’t he only do that to hide the fact that he was infertile?
>>286583746Melon himself is cool but his whole storyline was trash. I didnt like how she handled him and the whole dad situation was retarded and left a sour taste.
>>286600931It's confusing in the anime, but did they make it so that his mother actually devoured his father? The father doesn't show up at all, so Melon's trauma seems more real rather than a fakeout.
Why are the police so incompetent? Riz should have been detained on day 1 and they should have realized that not a single one of the victims had injuries matching a wolf’s claws/teeth. Not to mention that Melon should have already been a wanted criminal for killing all those elephants
>>286602174competent police are too quick to try to arrest friends & relatives of politicians for the crimes they've committed, and don't keep their jobs for long
https://youtu.be/ebrwA1SYJ1k?si=AMndJPKldLlx3qJ4I ship this now. At least in the anime, she doesn't just walk away and disappear. Juno and Pina inherit the drama club. They even switched roles as the shinigami and the love interest. So even after the events of the anime, you know she's still doing something and its with the only other character who actually wants to be her rival.
>>286593795Because Bill isn't allowed to have nice things.
>>286602174They legit didn’t believe Melon could do it because it because he presents as a gazelle.
Still no confirmation that Haru and Legoshi have sex.
>>286601203the devouring his dad thing isn't mentioned at all. melon's flashbacks tell the viewer very little, aside from the bullying. him killing the teacher who used to bully him as a kid just made melon even more based.>>286603704relegated to a stupid>people need something to look up totryhard wisdom message. i don't know why they bothered.
>>286598404nope, i'm on the other side of the planet unfortunately>>286599638i didn't get that at all. thought they were rogue rats. the scene of yahya acting stupid and deaf with gosha and calling the cops about legoshi right in front of gosha doesn't help. i wanted yahya & legoshi vs melon kino goddammit. instead they just did uninteresting filler subplots until the season was over, with the exception of melon & haru arc. by trying to stick close to the manga they basically just transferred the manga's weaknesses from 2D to 3D. funny how they still kept melon front and center in the material to advertise the final season, so they must have known that people were looking forward to furry batman vs joker, not highschool stuff.
If this is what passes for good enough to get an anime adaptation, then surely a talented Westerner CHAD like myself can be a successful and renowned comic/manga artist. Wait and see what I come up with weebs (spoiler: it'll be an edgy psycho bad guy like Melon but 10x the quality)
>>286603704Trapped in the second dimension.Maybe if the design was simple enough they could pass a texture edit of Haru’s model for her she’d have shown up.

>>286605833Remember, domestic animals don’t exist in Zootopia because there aren’t any humans to domesticate them, while they do exist in Beastars as they were genetically engineered in the war to create a soldier race
>hey melon, the turf war isn't meant to kill anyone. you're ruining the vibeRight as they threw a bomb at Legoshi, of course.
What is the equivalent of onions for us humans in real life?
>>286607693Deathcap mushrooms, but no real equivalent, as obviously anything poisonous we avoid entirely in all of our cuisine, unlike in Beastars where different species can eat different things.

>>286589639No, the equivalent arc of the manga is an actual 0/10.
>>286608211beastars is great. only the manga's ending and the final season of the anime are meh. even so you can still give the season a shot and see if there's a scene or two you like.

>>286605063next to what >>286609093 said, afaik there's a bit of a bias among many manga readers who claim that only japanese manga are worth a read.>>286609013>What you're seeing are the people who caught up years after the fact and don't conflate the character with the arc that entirely revolves around him.yup, that's me. and i don't blame the people who followed it on the weekly for ending up hating it; when i gave the manga a read, specifically melon's chapters because he interested me so much, i was frustrated over the repeated use of cliffhangers leading nowhere and subplots being introduced that are just as quickly forgotten about. i assume paru made up small fragments of storylines only as she was drawing along and it shows. so i'd be pretty pissed off too if i was actively following the manga, wondering what would happen next, only to get nothing. lmao @ those anime watchers who will buy the manga looking for more melon & haru content, or who want to find out what melon's up to post-defeat.
We love haru here
>>286609739Unironically to me. She's literally the reason to watch the show. Season 2 always feels bad watching for me and I don't rewatch it as often as the others, precisely because Haru is a background character.I'm glad the anime recognized that Haru is the reason why we care about what Legoshi is doing, and reincorporated her heavily into Part 2.
>>286609739Creating an anime heroine who is a slut is a genuinely radical act.
>>286610001>heroineeh, i wouldn't go that far. she's just the romantic interest of the hero (and the villain; or his hunger-interest, i guess).
>>286609145my impression is that they tried to do the final arc, MELON'S arc, with as little melon as possible. which is why yahya got shafted too, because batman horse's whole purpose is to catch the big bad.but really, who knows. the season is nothing like the three previous ones. no moments with subtle depth. creative direction is worse too, there are no particularly cool looking or dynamic scenes.something definitely went wrong behind the scenes. or maybe orange just wanted to be done with beastars.
>>286610669They might have resented a little that the high school drama they picked up that they could efficiently do by reusing school uniform assets and models immediately stopped being that and became a much more complicated work basically right after they picked up the rights.
I wonder if the anime watchers are confused who the fuck Kyuu is. She gets referenced as an awesome character and a legendary figure, and then we never actually see her.
>>286610804... then why not make a 2D anime, if cgi is too expensive?
>>286611811It didn't seem like it'd be too expensive when they got the license.Legoshi didn't drop out of school until basically right when the anime started.
>>286610804>>286612902Isn’t it Netflix who owns the rights / license and not Orange? Didn’t Netflix contract out Orange for each season?
>>286613251I mean there was also a network partner in Japan which is why seasons 1 and 2 aired in Japan week by week first then came to netflix a few months later, but they dropped out after season 2, so I dunno.
beastars next generations soon
>>286610001Haru was never a character. She was an object in the story.
>>286614752She was a character in Season 1, navigating her prey instincts just as much as Legoshi was navigating his predator instincts. Nowadays, it seems her prey instincts don't exist anymore.
>>286605063I don't think its talent. Paru must've been one of the few manga creators that wanted it.
>>286610669>or maybe orange just wanted to be done with beastars. Can't imagine why they would've been upset getting locked in to adapting one of the most infamous declines in modern manga history.
japan cant into furries holy shit everyone is ugly in this
>>286616288unless paru herself had the upper hand about season 3 part 2's script, this is all orange's fault. they should have taken a few things of the manga only, then fleshed it out into an anime original story. meanwhile what we got was the anime original stuff like the zoolympics and the drama club (the latter only for cutting costs via asset flipping) being even worse than the manga stuff.orange had it in their hand and blew it.
>>286616288I would imagine they were given liberties to change some details. I mean, some characters that should've died stayed alive.
>>286616421Adapting it was putting lipstick on a pig, they were obligated to try salvaging it but obviously you'll fail when the material fundamentally isn't workable.
>>286616493then do something completely new. it's furry batman vs joker ffs, don't pretend like it'd be hard to make an exciting final season out of it. they already did a great job with season 3 part 1 and should have used that momentum.
>>286616631I'm pretty sure enough people like the shitshow of a manga that they can't just completely disregard it. The middle ground of adapting what's there into something that works is probably less controversial than just completely doing your own thing.
>>286571663>>286571478eh fuck that, I hate this shit so much, it just reinforces the idea in the reader that the character is a whore and the protagonist a pussy who should have stuck with a virgin.Guess I am never finishing this.
>>286571563>legosi deserved to die a virgin. judging by >>286571478 haru is suffering because whenever she tries to be physical he almost suffers a breakdown about his instincts and how awful it is to be born a carnivore.I hate it, this goes beyond "oh no he is a carnivore" this shit is a plague in Manga, protagonists who assume what the girl wants, they give her so much importance that they end up not listening to her and keep moping about holding back as if every man was a violent beast on the inside. This was written by a woman right? What the hell did she mean by this?
>>286616922I mean, in that chapter, he literally did hurt her when they tried more intimacy. That's why he chickened out and Haru's pissed. And at the end of that chapter, Legoshi ravages her.
>>286616373In the Western sense? No, that’s why it’s Kemmono, basically anime humans with animal features. Which is hilarious when you realize it crafts roots
I want to jack Legoshi off and put a leash on him and let him fuck my butt.
No wonder I was having trouble keeping track of which rat is which; Yahya's rat is named Corne and Legoshi's rat is named Corn.
I like that they added Haru more, but they seem to have forgotten her dynamic. She's not treated as a cute, fragile bunny by anyone anymore. Wasn't that her whole thing?
I love the duality of them removing Legoshi turning white from shock in a comedy beat played dead serious that turns out to be a handy full body disguise when he gets in trouble with the police and then keeping in him getting in trouble with a police so now his disguise is just sunglasses.
>>286619144So does no one buy bunny meat. I know they're just reusing assets, but damn, no one is buying the bodies.
at least the merch looks cute>no gosha
>>286619662Louis would never make this expression.
>>286619662I assume this is a restaurant ad because I have no other idea why the owl would be there instead of any more relevant character

Was Legoshi forma de rabbit in the anime?
If eating meat is legal in the ocean why isn’t there an entire black market for fishing?
>>286618977>Yay, more Haru screen time!>It's almost none of her good chapters in the Melon arc
>>286617504Kemmono is the same cope as "It's not comic books, MOM! It's MANGA!" It's furshit. Just accept it.

>>286621644There is
>>286621577Nope. Kyuu also doesn't physically appear although she's discussed several times.
>>286616765yeah, that's an argument, i get that. but that argument is weakened by the more manga-oriented anime not only being a bore but also leaving out the best parts of the final arc. likewise, the anime is supposed to advertise the manga, so you better deliver something that strikes the interest of the audience. instead the anime is more confusing than anything else. i actually laughed when deshico spelled it out in part 2 when he was like>whoopsie, too bad our collaboration with the shishigumi went nowhere!like yeah no shit. melda was supposed to turn melon into an "overnight celebrity", right? i expected melon to go resident evil on the city and keep yahya on his toes by turning carnivores into killing machines, which would also explain why legoshi has to go after melon instead of the big beastar himself. the setups of part 1 being ignored like that leads me to believe that they originally had something else for part 2 in mind but chickened out at the last minute.part 2 also leaves some plotholes.>what became of the big chunk of meat that the shishigumi stuffed with melda? it's never brought up again.>the mayor lion is aware of melon. not only is he aware of him, he apparently deliberately covers his ass by putting more pressure on the police to go after legoshi. this connection is never explored.>neither is the connection between azuki's family and melon explored. they mass-produced kines so they must have worked together to some degree, or via intermediates. this would have been a good way to keep louis' james bond thing going.alas, what's done is done. i'm happy to be able to vent a little in this thread though.
>>286620321Yeah
>>286624031My main complaint is part 1 and 2 feel disconnected from each other.I know internally they’re literally just producing two different seasons rather than one double length season, but I feel like it shouldn’t still watch like it’s two different seasons.
>>286624031I think they lowered the stakes as much as they could without completely disregarding the manga. Melon's stakes seem to be deliberately lowered from a Joker-level powerful villain to just a guy that took charge of the Shishigumi but otherwise has a bone to pick with interspecies couples, and his obsession with Haru's meat.I guess it's to make it more personal to Legoshi and Haru's story, as having Legoshi go off and fight a supervillain like he's a superhero was where people felt Beastars was losing the plot.
>>286627050I do appreciate that he straight up has a ptsd from how Melon almost killed him and just shuts down for a while. It’s nice to be reminded he’s only trying to catch a serial killer because Batman said he’d wipe his criminal record, letting him marry his girlfriend if he did.
>>286627050and yet melon literally transforms into a suppervillain tier opponent just before his duel with legoshi. and is only defeated because coincidentally deshico figures out the weakness of hybrids.all a matter of taste i guess. i liked seeing the stakes raised sky-high. and i disliked the PTSD of legoshi. just wastes time, just like korra when she spent half of the last korra season faffing about because 'oh noes fighting criminals means having to deal with crazy violent freaks'.
>>286630471Legoshi literally had a bomb go off in his face. What do you want from him.
>>286624695yeah, that too.
>>286630523straight-forward agency throughout the whole season. like he's got in all previous seasons. not>fuck this shit, that melon dude is scary af, i'm done>faffing about>haru met WHOMST???!!!!>a'right i'mma do a turf war then
>azuki is okay with the marriage being a business relationship rather than one of love, as her goal is simply inheritance>okay with artificial insemination, so never have to have sex with louisI thought this was setting it up so that Louis and Juno can have a relationship, but he breaks up with her anyway.
>>286631495yea seems like they wanted to fanservice the shippers by dragging the breakup out till the end.
>>286603290>pizzfags got BTFOd hard>now us BINACHADS have to deal with Junknofags getting the sheep in the anime as consolation prize cuz they aint got the queer deer for the sec time.
>So from what i have read so far Miyagi and San never appear in the animeanother one im missing? not gonna watch that shit.
It's been bugging me if Haru's height of 3'4 includes her ears or not. Looks like her stated height does include her ears. No wonder drawing her always feels odd. She's always smaller than you think.
I just finished the Final Season....First of all I want to say something I said to myself about a certain character and that is FUCK YAHYA!! He probably got better development in the manga, in fact I know a lot of plotpoints and characters were dropped for the anime, one of the main plotpoints being Haru's family, but FUCK YAHYA!!Secondly, if there was a character who got screwed over by the plot, it's Juno.Other than that I still love this weird series and I hope Beastly Complex gets adapted and whatever projects Paru Itagaki is a part of continues to be hypnotically weird yet entertaining to watch/read.
>>286633239I mean, the breakup happened in the third to last chapter, so it basically happens exactly when it happened.
I want to suck Legoshi's penis.
>>286603290why didn't juno just kiss him

>>286640596guess after part 1 i hoped she'd get her own storyline in the anime. would match with both the university and her arc with melon instead of her just being the damsel that needs to be saved from him. oh well, at least she got a little business management lesson from oguma.
>>286640596Still it doesn't help in light of all the other weird little inconsistencies that make part 2 feel like it was written by someone different from part 1
>>286641390>make part 2 feel like it was written by someone different from part 1it 100% was written by someone else.
Sometimes I imagine being in a polycule with Legosi, Louis, and Haru
>not even one scene with naked Haruwhat is even the point
>>286642972>he wants to see naked womenwhat are you gay
>>286635187Good point. For some reason, she plays the prude when a male flirts with her but we know she's a go getter type character. Pina even points that out.
>>286634503>Secondly, if there was a character who got screwed over by the plot, it's Juno. For me, if Beastars ever continues in any way shape or form, I now want it to follow Juno and Pina in the drama club. Legoshi, Haru and Louis stories are done. But the anime clearly shows Juno story is not done.
>>286603290Good thing her arms are pretty long. If they were a couple inches shorter, their noses would touch.
I want to have sloppy gay sex with Louis..Grab those antlers during.

This season would have benefited from 1, maybe 2 more episodes. The last episode went by way too fucking fast with too much happening.
>>286645522It’s always a good sign when the final episode opens with 22 chapters of story left to cover
Overall, I liked it, but I think I will pretend Beastars is a one-season anime, as the enjoyment is far better if you imagine Legoshi and Haru's navigating their future together rather than what we actually got.
>>286646414It’s amazing how good an adaptation season 1 is.You can really tell they were eager to make a specific kind of high school romance and were increasingly sad that Paru made it less and less that over time
theory: louis got rid of his leg because he found out that by injuring himself down there helped him to relax his asshole, so now hes the perfect bottom.source: me
