It's really starting to irk me that some mangaka are allowed to basically take breaks everytime they want. It doesn't really bother me in a "It's not fair that they get to take vacation while other mangaka (and me) don't" way, because after all mangaka are paid per page and on royalties, so if they don't work they don't get paid, but often the mangaka who take the longest breaks seem to do it for no reason at all, but maybe it's just japanese privacy and I understand taking extended breaks to deal with health issues.
I guess it used to be that mostly all you had to be worried about when you were following a manga were early cancellation, and maybe death for old farts (prison too, but it only happened twice).
