What did /a/ think about the ending? Personally I liked it, while the way to defeat Makima was kind of contrived the themes and the general hopeful ending really managed to land well, something unusual for manga.Between Denji having a chance to grow up, Nayuta having a second chance at life, Blood devil around etc, I can truly see this as a good ending.It's a shame the planned sequel got axed, I really wanted to see what Fujimoto had planned for Denji in highschool, but oh well, you can't win them all.

I actually liked the scene with Pochita but man, the fact that it just kinda happens with very little setup feels almost unearned. Like I get that it lines up with everything that's happened in Part 2 as a whole, but the way it plays out feels so disconnected with everything else. I've defended this shit since 2022 and made so many cope theories about it (You may remember me as the Future Devil poster who created the Bonnie and Clide theory) but it was clear since at least the Church arc, and arguably since Falling Devil arc that Fujimoto is a complete hack who stopped caring about this story long ago if he ever did, that Part 1 and early Part 2 were most likely a fluke and that he can't write for shit. When you do something with love, you put in effort, which was never there in part 2 from Church Arc onwards, not in the art which was amateurishly bad and not even fit for a webcomic, and not in the story, which was obviously scrapped and remade again and again and again without any direction. No one ever felt like a real person in chainsawman part 2, it was all sockpuppets to create cliffhangers and extract money from his fans.Part 1 had an extremely simple and vague wordbiilding that was however completely consistent from the very beginning, shart poo is literally just random shit that isn't even well drawn so it isn't exciting to read. It's clearly a scene that's been planned out all this time, but tonally and narratively it feels so disconnected from the entire final fight between Asa/Yoru and Denji. Doesn't help that Denji's frame of mind isn't really elaborated on throughout this final fight unlike in Part 1 where Denji's inner turmoil is actually addressed leading up to the final fight with Makima. Here it's like we're suddenly just dumped with the resolution before the climax even had time to properly wrap itself up.
