It's perfectly congruent with everything that went on with Denji's character, and the story in general. Shit, last chapter even the original iconic CHAPTER ONE line was denied from him. It can't be clearer that this is supposed to show Denji crumbled under the pressures of adulthood, without a Makima to grant him the path to character growth on a silver platter.Whether this is a setup for a part 3 "redemption arc" or just a bad ending in general, I'm fine with either (I'd rather Fuji leave CSM for good and do something else though).
