>Be Japonic writer>Name your fantasy characters "Austria" and "February"What causes this?

>>286676049I mean at least in my (OP) personal opinion, I watch anime because it has quality over other media in series style and due to being animated it has a wider range for storytelling and not because of >country :/ >country, japan :0
>Be OP>slurp semen nonstopWhat causes this?
words sound cool

Japanese naming conventions aren't as strict as English, English has a standardized pool of names and surnames with historical context and anything that deviates from that is seen as strange, whereas Japanese will use almost any noun as a name so they just apply that logic to English because it sounds cool lacking cultural context It'd be like an English writer making a Japanese story and naming a normal kid Akuma or Gomi because they sound Japanese without understanding what they mean to the Japanese
>>286676405What's important for a Japanese name is how it's written.
>>286676405The fuck? Are you just making shit up? English people make up names like Shayneikwah all the time.Japanese people are restricted to certain Kanji and readings based on what's allowable by the government.
>>286676435>English people make up names like Shayneikwah all the time. And they're mocked relentlessly for it >Japanese people are restricted to certain Kanji and readings based on what's allowable by the government. And those are the random nouns that later got standardized, whereas English names that are also nouns (in English) are the exceptions, most names are just names with no semantic meaning except etymologically
>>286676009Alicetaria my beloved
>>286676009You've seen nothing.
>>286676009I have no idea what issue you have with this.
>>286676009In fairness, people being named after places is a very common practice. London, Paris, etc. Both as surnames and forenames.
>>286676009What I really admire about Japan is that they don't give a shit because their media is for them. When Hollywood makes a movie, it has to fill a racial quota and they have to speak the authentic language of the period and they have to use period-accurate clothing and setting and when they make something like "Gods of Egypt" the media throws a fit about it being ethnically inaccurate. Meanwhile, the Japanese do nothing more than make vague approximations of foreign elements just enough to appear exotic and often these "exotic" characters will still follow Japanese customs and eat Japanese food in many cases and the cast is entirely Japanese as well.
>>286677259>the cast is entirely Japanese as wellThey all look white European bronacho
>>286677889Wrong. They all look like cats
>>286677921Proof?
>>286676435>English
>>286676009Sounds cool
>>286676049Is it possible, as a foreigner, to watch anime for reasons other than exoticism? If you learn the language and become familiar with the culture beyond anime/manga after years of contact, is it still exotic?
>>286680418How is gerugugu and makube forms of harrasment?
>>286676009Altair did nothing wrong
does anyone else thing western attempts at making eastern fantasy like rokugan from l5r or kamigawa from mtg are more cringe than eastern attempts at making western fantasy? some might say it's because there's so many fantasy anime compared to weeaboo games that you get used to it, but I don't think that's right. I think eastern western fantasy is more tolerable because it's ultimately just a copy of a copy with actual western fantasy as the original, while western eastern fantasy is rooted in that kind of "orientalism" where white people become obsessed with japan and china while having very limited actual information about it.
>>286676435>Shayneikwaheven this corruption has etymology that goes back centuries
>>286681784No, orientalism is cool and generally improved by large gaps in actual knowledge that need to be filled with imagination. The cringe part is fags insisting one ought to be "respectful" of foreign cultures they're using as a basis for fantasy, which is at best pointless and seems to end up as (self-) censorship.
SCREAM SOMETHING TO ME
japs treat english and german like english speakers treat french
>>286680916The concept of "harassment" in Japan is a bit different from the anglosphere, it can also refer to attempts to mock or antagonize someone by putting them on the spot or flexing your position.>>286680418I honestly think Gelgoog is a pretty cool name for a mech, it actually gives me Toriyama vibes for some reason.
>>286684194Kek
Speaking of anime names...
>>286686838Keky
>>286682264it's cringe because the way imagination is used to make up for knowledge creates a contrast like those wood block paintings that depict george washington as a samurai or those medieval illustrations of giraffes drawn by people who were clearly just making shit up, but instead of being aware of how goofy it is it takes itself seriously.
>>286682480AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- PIURN-BAL!!! GLEHD-STORM!!! STOHNTER-VOLT!!! I LOOK FORWARD FOR AN ISEKAI WHO USES SAMBAHSA FOR MAGIC SPELLS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- I'M SO TIRED OF ENGLISH!!!
>>286682264You will say this and then seethe like a nigger chimp when the Japanese get basic things about European history/culture wrong
>>286677030I will never understand the fucking equal sign.
>>286676435Americans of African descent are not English. And people make fun of those names all the time.
>>286692389It's a divider; elevens don't believe in spaces.
>>286676009>then name at least 3 characters after stars.
>>286676190>Scandinavia PeperoncinoKEK
>>286676190>Scandinavia PeperoncinoA name straight out of Peter Grill.
>>286676405in Spanish naming people after nouns, like Luz "light" is somewhat common, other common names are Sol "sun", Paloma "Pidgeon", Aurora "Aurora", Flor "flower", Oliva "olive"
