Slayers was a good native isekai

It's one of the earliest light novel franchises. I'd argue it made Isekai.

Good adventure fantasy series do still exist though fortunately

youd just be getting nu fantasy slop instead

Did you completely miss how the 2000s completely butchered the LN industry in favor of "safe, mass produced harem-bait" that is always the same because LN editors kept pushing their authors to become as uniform as possible to address the theoretically greatest amount of people and ensured to have the LNs never ever mention male MCs having physical relations with any of the girls because supposedly "all LN readers are ultra-purity-fags that would feel offended at the MC 'dirtying' them"?
Contrary to that, isekai actually saved the dying LN industry by giving back control over the contents to the authors because of the WN-sourcing killing off the typical editor excuse of "the market wouldn't want your idea, trust me, I am an expert!"
All it took was a starter-pack concept and some lateral entrants with a non-literature dayjob and actual work- and life-experience. Because the authors are no longer from a literature background, the editors are actually forced to do proper editing work for once and no longer have the leisure to just backseat everything while playing-pretend as market analysts.

It can't take away old good anime because even if you tried to make one today, it's new so it'd automatically become new bad.

This. I always felt like Pokota was the final nail in the coffin for Slayers making a comeback. He needed to be a side character for three episodes tops, and only that much because of how good Zelgadis' skit about capturing him was.

WTF are you talking about? Serious question, I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of the light novel industry's history.
>>
>>286690313
Any questions? It's known that for e.g. Infinite Stratos, ideas go through editors and one may raise questions on their pro/cons. In neo-LN, one can pick fiction that's already popular on narou like Overlord and editor comes later. My favorite example is Overlord having an evil mc. You'd never have that in WSJ.

In the past you had people becoming light novel authors either by applying to a publisher for the position directly via channels similar to regular job applications which was then rejected or accepted by an editor, or they become light novel authors by joining some kind of writing contest and showing good enough results there to be noticed by an editor. In either case editors were in control to the point that any drafts couldn't be published until the editor gave an OK for it, and in the late 2000s the LN editors went full retard because they pushed the authors to write increasingly more similar LNs until in the period right before isekai popped up you had pretty much every new LN be a magic high-school story each with almost the exact same contents and story arcs.
When isekai final arose it changed the situation dramatically because the editors lost power since the authors' already published WNs on a platform were irrefutable proof of the popularity of a story (which didn't always translate WN platform views to LN book sales, but I digress) so editors had a much higher threshold to just deny any drafts at this point. Also the fact that publishers often approached the WN author's rather than the other way around also gave more leverage to the authors.

Ainz is about as evil as Luffy is a pirate.
>>
>>286692527
Ainz wiped out a whole country, including average civilians, simply because a retarded noble did retarded noble things.

You can literally torrent Slayers right now, what are you on about?

Also
>slop
You subhumans would call Slayers "native isekai" if it aired today because of how intertwined it is with RPG tropes.

>It's one of the earliest light novel franchises. I'd argue it made Isekai.
If you want to be technical, there's a really funny possibility that Wings of Rean (a novel series by Tomino back in 1983) may be the first real light novels, and funnily enough, it is in fact isekai, and was adapted into possibly the first isekai light novel adaption, Aura Battler Dunbine.

so isekai's been around since the beginning

On one hand, you're right and isekai revived LNs and are beating manga right now as the main source of adaptations.

On the other, many of them are derivative as hell and not coming from life experience at all. I recognize that isekai authors are certainly more passionate and that's why a lot of their stories get massive fanbases at least.

Galient isn't an isekai though.

Better control. Luna, if she wanted, COULD synch better with LoN and thus destroy or remake the universe. Also, bigger tits.
