First he wanted to sacrifice Simon, then after he basically wanted to sacrifice himself. Simon snaps him back to reality and makes him see the truth. A character is defined by their entire arc not just one bad action they do, especially if it's important for their arc

There's that one specific line he says when he shoots Kamina through the floor and jumps out. Can't even accuse them of forgetting which filters they used because it definitely sounds like a new recording version instead of the original line without filters. Probably to justify paying the seiyuu or some nonsense and they were rushing through production. The rest of Thymilph's lines were relatively the same, they just changed the one line. It's really bugged me all these years that they messed with it. I don't even care about Thymilph or anything. I just thought that one line was a key part of episode 8 that added to the episode as a whole.If I had editing chops, I'd make a fancut of the first half that puts the TV version line back and that's about it. Well, there's also other shit that I wish they didn't cut but I can't reconcile including those bits with the Gurren-hen final fight without redoing a chunk of the story so I'll just settle for the one voice line.This is my one autistic gripe I'll seethe about for the rest of my life because I'm probably the only one who gives a shit about this. I know nobody asked, but I wanted to bitch about it at least once in my life somewhere before I go back to never mentioning it again.
