>new part of a beloved manga
>have a female protagonist to try and shake up the shounen genre
>have an interesting start, but slowly the pacing gets worse as the story goes on
>various plot threads are brought up, but the majority of them are just bait and switch and are never explored/dropped
>original premise and the mc's objective become less relevant as the story goes on, and is pratically irrelevant in the final arc
>the story ends up being very convoluted due to the side characters and antagonists being very disposable and having short staying time
>there is a twist about a supporting character's true identity, in terms of their relation to the main antagonist, but it does not impact the plot in any relevant way
>get so bad to the point the mangaka has to have an abrupt ending, due to writing himself into a corner
>have to end with a major retcon in order for the series to go on
>be stone ocean
>pic unrelated

90% of Stone Ocean "criticisms" come from people who just want to get to Steel Ball Run, yes.
