It's story of failure, of trying to do and be better but ultimately failing to his own desires. I can understand Fujimotos vision that this an awful point in Denjis life and that it was somewhat of his own making. But what I can't understand is Pochitas viewpoint of Denjis life being better when he was struggling in the shack. The only way I can make heads or tails of it, is if Pochita means that since Denji became chainsawman people have been hunting and using him just to get to pochitas heart. They don't care about Denjis heart. The only way I can ever be Ok with the story is if there is a part 3 where Denji is FORCED to make progress since he cannot rely on chainsawman anymore. I think what shows dengie's character the most, is when he told the Yoru that she could make him a weapon. If he was thinking with his dick he could have said for her to do it only if she had sex with him or some such. But he wanted to become a weapon to a tone for the wrongs he felt he had done, to try and put some good into the world and take out some evil. Denji wants to be a good person, he wants to help Asa, he wants to bring her into a world where both of them can be happy, he just gets in his own way a lot, and others try to use him. He's a tragic main character. When things get tough, since he's all alone, he goes for Simple Pleasures like food, sex, or entertainment. Anything to distract himself that the world is ending.
As long as nothing bad happens to Kobeni, I'll be satisfied.
