>>286698040Yeah, its pretty great. No bad episodes so far, and no major characters are just one-dimensional. Everyone has a second side to them. As far as criticisms of the show as a drama go, Kasamachi is too perfect of a man and he doesn't introduce enough friction alongside how he solves plots. Too convenient, imo. Makio for example, provides solutions to Asa's struggles. But she also introduces friction by driving some of those same struggles, if even accidentally. Or she has her own struggles that introduce friction in the story by themselves. Asa has a ton of problems, more than you'd think going in. So she brings a lot of friction. Kasamachi is too good at everything, so he never really feels 'balanced' in terms of what he gives and takes. Emily is super cute.

So, in a way, Kasamichi is sort of is an ideal partner wish fulfillment.At the end of the day this series has always been about an aunt and a niece, the major developments are between Makio and Asa, the only real change Makio will make in the end will be about Asa.

I despise Makio as a person.I dislike Asa. Makio is not well written. Asa is.Rather how other characters bend over and contort themselves into mockeries of actual humans so Makio has sycophantic foils. That's not well written. I'd be much more willing to entertain Makio if people reacted to her abrasiveness like a human would. Because Asa is the sole character in the manga besides the dead sister who takes any exception from Makio's self absorption she's the only well written character in the whole thing. Even if I think of her as a particularly annoying teenager.

She can account for the gaps that exist between her and others. Of course, a lot of this is age. She's in her mid to late 30s. It is easier to understand other people like that, the longer you live and the more experience you have. Makio would be a less pleasant woman if she was 15-18 and not 35-38.Being able to maintain her girlfriend ring is pretty believable.But even the story calls out Kasamachi's simping being a bit overboard. He just got oneitis at a young age for her.
