Anyone reading Punk Gun?
Orphan boy that can't feel pain becomes bounty hunter so he can help his orphan friends.
>>
Author got told his series was gonna get axed and decided to go full meta
>>
>>286722735
the powers of the antagonist are pretty fun though, I like it
his motivation is cool too, you don't see characters often trying to destroy the manga from within the manga
>>
>>286722700
It's pretty good.
>>
>>286722700
thanks for the rec
>>
>>286722700
im enjoying it, the weekly double chapters is also nice
>>
>>286722735
Wait, is it axed or still going?
>>
>>286722735

Like medaka box?

we'll catch up soon to the official release though I think, so enjoy the double release while you can
>>286723996
we don't know. judging by how this arc is going, it's giving axe vibes
but it's also getting color pages
This is saikyou jump though, maybe they operate differently than the other jumps

Still, even if it is axed, the ~40 chapters we got are pretty good
>>
>>286724020
Thanks. It's kind of a cursed cycle because there's no use picking up an axed manga.

I never read Medaka Box, but the current main antagonist seems to be aware that he is in a manga, hates the setting he is in, and wants to destroy the manga.
he also has meta powers, he can see the borders of panels and jump between them.
>>
>>286724069
Got it, thanks a lot
>>
It already had like 30 chapters out before it got picked up so I'm not sure if it's really in danger of getting axed.
>>
>>286724208
I thought the entire current catalog of Saikyo got added to M+, so I don't think that alone makes it safe
I will be gladly wrong on this though, maybe the author just really wanted this meta villain this early on
>>
>>286722700
Fuck wanted? Hmm.
>>
>>286724069
That's the antagonist? Looks like he'd make a better protagonist.

yeah, some kinda ex-military that trained the protagonist to become a terrorist

Ojisan protagonists are a hard sell. That's why I respect Yuusha Man being so successful with two anime in the same season.

Another thing I like about the series, specifically the first chapter because it hasn't happened since sadly, is that the author included an in-universe newspaper spread.
It's such a neat idea, and I'm surprised that this isn't more common.
>>
>>286724396
Soulful. Reminds me of PC-98 games and I don't know why.
>>
>>286724396
It seems to be going for a noir vibe, and the setting seems to be in the 70s or 80s, but with vibes from detective movies/comics from the 30s and 50s. I mean, they don't even have computers in the police station.
Also, the first crime scene in the manga is pretty much one big noir cliche.
>>
>>286724454
yep, good points. I felt the same way. reminiscent of pulpy detective stories
the detective with the pompadour only adds to this
>>
>>286724484
You've also got the first scene with the detective that shows up at a crime scene with a dead whore (who died in a Christ pose). That's just classic noir.
Anyway, given the reference to cup noodles being a new invention, the manga might be set around 1971, when those actually came out. Of course, I don't know if the manga is set in our world, and my assumption was that the manga is just an amalgamation of different time periods and cultures.

yeah I don't think it's supposed to be our world, just stylized

also, the gimp suits give me that noir feeling too. it's something about the art and the shading

>Yuusha Man
Who's that?
>>
>>286724298
The cute girls are selling it and not the ojisan protagonists retard

Rocket Shokai. He wrote Yuusha Kei and Yuusha Kuzu both airing this season.
>>286724791
Where did I say the ojisan protagonists were selling it? I said I was proud of the writer for daring to make series with ojisan protagonists that turned out to be successful. You would understand this if you possessed any amount of reading comprehension. Stop being an angry, reactionary little goblin.
>>
>>286724838
It's absurd that it's not more common, because I think there's a big market for it. I mean, there are plenty of girls with daddy issues, or who like ojisan types (look at Leon from the recent RE game), and I assume that not every male manga reader is a manchild who only wants to read about kids, teenagers and effeminate losers, or the 1000th iteration of the same, boring waifu archetype.
>>
>>286724903
this is mostly a shonen demographic thing though, seinen manga have plenty of adult protagonists
adult protagonists for shonen used to be a thing too, and might come back into style again

oooor we go even younger and we get toddler protagonists
>>
>>286724838
>Rocket Shokai. He wrote Yuusha Kei and Yuusha Kuzu both airing this season.
Thanks!
>>
Every series is just better with a shota MC. That's fact.
>>
>>286724973
Yeah, but shounen and seinen have blended together to an almost absurd degree that it almost seems completely random what demographic they're targeting, unless we're talking about very obvious shit like generic battle shounen, or whatever the fuck they call it these days. There's a lot of shounen I thought was seinen, and a lot of seinen I thought was shounen.
I also miss the late 80s and 90s, when many of the teenage or young adult male protagonists actually looked like guys, rather than just being an effeminate, skinny little faggot that's drawn in the same was as the girls, and they'd usually also have an older, male mentor type.
>>
I'm at chapter 7 and this is surprisingly decent.

It's a bit weird how the kids are way too fucking mature, but it kinda works anyway.
