The movie gives away too many plot details prematurely and the original opening fails to properly reintroduce each of the main characters and their allegiances. Kobayashi’s forest scene is pure filler with clearly rushed animation, although Tohru’s dogfight scene is a fun addition.

Kyoani's gonna have to work some serious magic not seen since they adapted K-On to make this anywhere close to enjoyable. Like holy shit this is the most nothing boring slice of life manga I've ever read.
I really hope they do an anime original ending after one or two seasons for this. Don't need kyoani to become another shounen jump slave studio that's locked into an adaptation for a decade. Thankfully the chapters for this come out at a glacial pace so they might be forced to wrap it up early.

There's literally no date for ruridragon and the PV implies it could take years, i don't think they'd give this much leeway to any other studio. I guess the industry knows their worth but I can also see a bit of pity. It's not like Ruridragon is still Shonen Jump's hot new IP, the constant breaks killed a lot of the hype, so there's no pressure to capitalize on its popularity anymore.

A CGDCT school slice of life with a supernatural element to go along with it, and of course they already have experience with humanoid dragons. Given the limited source material, it's gonna need the studio to reach out to the author and get a lot of explanations from them to make an actually enjoyable not boring show.
