japanese reactions:

They make excuses for watching pirated copies when they could get the legit versions

What really gets to me is foreigners' insane sense of entitlement. They're just way too loud. That's why we can't let any more of them into Japan. It's getting completely out of hand.

Typical of those guys who riot and loot every time something happens. It's clear they don't even recognize their actions as crimes.

They talk about respect for fans, but those watching pirated copies aren't “fans.”
Recognize yourselves as harmful stalkers.

That's pure invader mentality. No wonder coexistence is impossible

If that's the argument, then Disney and Netflix should eliminate monopolies too

They're always blaming others, that is why they can't invent or make anything worthwhile

They're fools
They're erasing works that might have been created someday from this world forever
Like a barbarian who eats the seeds before the fruit ripens

It seems foreigers will still need thousands of years to reach our moral standards
It's truly unfortunate that the system meant to prove copyright infringement has been abused

What the hell? So Americans' view on copyright isn't any different from the Chinese and Koreans after all

I simply can't understand why they'd brag about it
Then when they become victims themselves, they complain
It's not that Japan is strict—it's that overseas countries lack morals, right?

It's infuriating how many scumbags make pathetic excuses for stealing when it's clearly wrong. Before spouting outdated nonsense, they should go relearn some basic morals.

In South America and Southeast Asia, pirated versions of anime are still the norm. And on Reddit and 4chan, these idiots brazenly brag about it. What's worse, these jerks watch stolen content yet still have the nerve to critique it. They're seriously the scum of the scum.

There's literally an exhibit in Japan's national museum of manga that says in no uncertain terms that piracy was a core contributor to manga ever becoming financially successful overseas in the first place. They know it's a fact, but their ideas regarding copyright are so archaic and self-serving that it doesn't matter because "muh morals" is an unimpeachable argument for these puritanical retards.

The biggest difference between Japan and the west, is that when your corporations or artists come up with absurd demands, you bow down and lick their feet in hopes that they'll be kinder to the cattle next time, and we say eat shit retard and force them to. You should learn from us, and you'd stop getting milked dry in your hypercapitalist abomination of a country. it's because you haven't resisted exploitative corporations milking you like cattle as much as we have. instead, you're spending your life defending being exploited and pointing your finger at foreigners who have a more functional society than you, crying that they aren't trying hard enough to make your rich richer.

That would be a good thing though. Most animanga is slop made in the cheapest possible way, targeted at a group of people desperate for any kind of diversion or escape from the fact that they overwork themselves to pay 90% of their wages for rent and groceries (or they're still in school, but they know this is what awaits them in a few years, see also why you have so many hikikomori).
The sooner that industry crumbles to the ground (along with everything else) the sooner we can rebuild society into one where art isn't so closely mixed together with commercial interest.

>>
>>286939610
This. Seeing anons argue that the west is more functional than Japan because we "resist corporations by pirating media" is one of the most retarded and laughable things I've seen here.
It can be true that Japan is a superior society in many ways (stable, relatively homogeneous, peaceful, high trust, etc) but that they are also completely cucked by their corporations and government. It can also be true that the west is a shitskin-ridden hellscape of gutted welfare systems and neoliberal blood drinking pedophile demon politicians AND we still get cucked by our corporations, just marginally less because westerners are just naturally more individualistic and harder to control.

The comic industry is dead because it went woke.
Let me tell you this man: most people here in the West in general (not just 'murrica, what most mean when they say "West) didn't care about anime and manga until a few years ago. Liking it at all risked ridicule.
But American media, the giant that dominated the entertainment industry of the whole world for over 70 years, got fully conquered by wokism, turning all slowly to shit.
So many that otherwise would have read Superbatman jumped to Japanese media. And now the Woke are after your stuff, too.
I can see the change already. By the end of the decade Manga and Anime will be as broken and ruined as Hollywood and comics.
The increase of Manga's popularity isn't a blessing, it's a curse.

it is in fact us westerners that have the superior morality. we are free speech radicals. we believe that information should be free. we are artistic extremists. you japanese should feel flattered that we westerners have found your popular culture worthy.
>>
>>286944090
The logic is that by pirating it you are depriving the publisher of the necessary incentive to distribute it in the west in the first place. It's a truly demented thought process only a Japanese twitter user could come up with.
>>
>>286947753
The "gentlemen" part is a bit of a strong word, and overall it's meant in a friendly "one of us" way.
>>
It's fucking hilarious how these schizos are screaming "fuck foreigners, the industry would collapse if we relied on people like this, return to sakkoku" while the anime and manga industries continues to desperately seek wider global reach and bend over backwards to appeal to western sensibilities because of how much money it's making them already.

You're welcome.

>The comic industry is dead because it went woke.
It was dead in the 90s. You can't recycle "SPIDER MAN DIES FOR REAL THIS TIME (MARY JANE'S MARRIAGE IS OVER?)" for the 1000th time and still expect people to buy it. The 90s were considered the first big crash because it was the first time people stopped falling for the equivalent of remake and reboot slop. The woke era just shoveled dirt on a coffin that was already nailed shut. The Woke era gave comic books life again, because it became a race to shock the readers with the most outlandish premises that people couldn't morbidly look away.

Manga hasn't entered the realm of where it's rebooting every. single. minor story about whatever is popular at the time constantly being retooled/remake "BUT BETTER AND NEW" just to catch the glimpses of the few people who give a shit. Shounen Jump still has something resembling competition, even if you can kind of see the makings of a creatively bankrupt industry with how most of them seem to adapt copy+paste LNs about Isekai and fantasy reincarnation with little change to them except names and places. Picture if the rut we're in with most new serializations being slop LN adaptations lasted 40 years and you have the state of comic books when they collapsed.

Years ago Japan removed all trash bins in fear of a repeat terrorist attack.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_subway_sarin_attack
Whenever you read about a terrorist attack in a japanese manga or anime there's a good chance it's referencing this attack.
>>
Ever since someone in the animation industry complained about criticism from pirates and then backtracked saying "sorry I thought all westerners were pirates because I didn't know it was even possible for westerners to pay, this is news to me", it's been clear that outraged Japanese are somehow even more retarded than outraged Americans.
>>
>>286950257
The first big blows to the american comics industry were in the 50s with comic codes and the government suing many publishers out of business. Before that comics of all kinds sold very well, not just super hero ones, it was more like the Japanese market where a lot more people read them. The aims of such moves were to stop the youth from being radicals, which looking at the 60s and 70s didn't work. They did cripple the american comics industry into like 2 big publishers though. In the 70s after they dropped the codes, tons of bad business decisions started coming into play like the collectors markets and the comic shop model exclusivity.
