It's amazing how much you can deduce about an author's mental state from the progression of their art. Just reading the chapters from the past few years of part 2, I often got the sense that Fujimoto might have been depressed. It's disappointing that this is what we ended up with, but at least part 1 (especially the Reze arc) was incredible. I hope he takes a long, well-earned break to recharge after this. He's one of the best authors in the manga industry right now even if part 2 didn't click with me no where near as much as part 1 did.
