What have you been reading or picked up lately? Drop and discuss title especially those manga that couldn't sustain its own thread.
Been trying to beat my first novel but it's kicking me hard and I'm usually way too dead to read manga. Unless I just reanimate and read some manga about a vampire running a hotel
>>287060918those are some humongous feet
I have been reading Übelblatt again and I'm apparently at the awful Glenn-arc, where everything is and will be Glenn, and his sex antics. It's noticable how Köinzell is less absent.First time reading, it's just something I heard people complaining about.
On a gambling binge, finished Usogui and Kaiji 1-6. Reading one outs so far and loving the rivalry between the owner and Tokuchi. Already pretty creative so far in how he manipulates games. Is liar gsme
>>287060918I'm upset picrel got axed.If the upcoming anime adaptation turns out to be successful, I wonder if the publisher would revive it.
>>287061021This is one of the sexiest characters I have seen in months.
>>287060943Eternal hiatus season
I want to start Galaxias but I think recently Ive read or caught up this year>Dai Dark>Chouin X>Centuria>Kagurabachi>Tower Dungeon>Kengan daily naru daily storytimeBut if anyone needs a long running rec Usogui is the best manga Ive read the last 5 years. What a gamble
MAD
>>287061021The mangaka really has problem with scheduling.
>>287061021I did not even know axed series get adaptations
>>287061252There was a shoujo anime who's author died like half a decade ago a couple of seasons back.
Boku no Pico, obviously
>>287061252We're getting Zombie Sagashitemasu and Psyren this year
>>287061040>This is one of the sexiest characters I have seen in months.Years for me.Judging by the author's comment, it seems like the anime adaptation will increase the fanservice.わくわく.
>>287061383interesting.from my exp, anime series are mostly just ads to boost manga sales
>>287060918Still waiting on new chapter from Usuzumi no Hate. We are now getting into the meat of the plot.I binge read all of the available chapters of Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun when I discovered it got licensed a long time ago. Can't believe I missed thatIn my efforts to expand my Sunday catalog I started reading Futari Bus. One of my favorite romcoms currently. Thinking of Utsuranain desu nextNippon Sangoku might get a little traction here with the anime coming out. I really like it so I hope this makes the translation come out fasterAnd lastly Yugami no Toriko. It's alright.>>287060943>Seasonal mangaA daring idea.>>287060988Koinzell a cutie!
This, it's from the same author as yanineko. Only one chapter translated tho.
>>287060918Read red blue recently. Its a well done and grounded mma manga. The protagonist is pretty refreshing to see since he has no real motivations other than hating the all positive shounen hero's guts.
This one is really good too
>>287060918Found this one recently it's been pretty fun.
>>287060918
>The WeekndDamn this is like the most random rec I'd ever seen lmao
>>287060918Slowly making my way through Barakamon. It's comfy.
I'm rereading Jojolion. Last I read it, it was in the Wonder of U arc and chapter by chapter release and I remember just hating the last arc. Reading it all in one go has done a lot for my enjoyment as a whole. I think the majority of the story is really solid. The mystery of the Rocacaca is very cool and it builds up to a head where everyone is in a sort of gang war race for the grafted branch and the new, liquid version of it. It makes for an extremely tense finale. Then... Wonder of U comes along. And initally it's a very cool set up. I think the idea that any persuit or ill intention towards Wonder of U or Tooru activating a calmity is a really cool way to do that. It's like Bites the Dust only ten times the threat. The problem is... the last fight goes on waaaaaaay to long. And Wonder of U just kinda starts being able to do whatever the fuck (like make rock monsters because who knows don't ask how he just can). Soft and Wet Go Beyond is a really cool concept and idea that I'd expect from Araki as well it's just a shame a cool finale was ruined by what feels like him trying to stall for time.
Catching up on Harta series:Introduction to Mineralogy Primal Gods in Ancient TimesHow Cute You AreMy Destiny
>>287060918Someone mentioned Spirit Circle in that good endings thread so I picked it up and it drove me to tears.I also got into Bouryouku Banzai, pretty damn good.
>>287063404I remember that most people also complained about the namek finale during the serialization.
>>287062457Speaking of Futari Bus, the first volume just got reprinted.
>>287060918Just picked up Onigunsou's new serialization in Ultra Jump, WANDerLust.
>>287060918Waiting for Hajime no Braindamage to finally end.I survived Nisekoi, i know i can do this. We're close, i can feel it.
>>287064596How long have you been following?
>>287063836I saw that and I'm glad it's doing well. It's a cute breather every week.
Just caught up with MAD, picked it up on a whim after seeing that female lead is a cute brown tomboy. Despite some Fujimoto styled self-aware humor it mostly feels like something akin to Blue Gender and i missed this type of postapoc stories.
>>287068629
>>287060918Korokorokoro
Does anyone have the Oricon numbers for the J+ series? With Night Light Hounds getting axed I want to see how my other series are doing.
I've tried the 1:x gender ratio manga I could find on MangaDex. It's interesting how big the gap in writing skills is between some authors. I have some hope for 1:5 and the new 1:99. 1:39 is still holding up. The new Teisou Gyakuten Sekai has already dropped the ball for me. Also, after finishing Non-chan to Akari, I'm in need of a disturbing ghost GF.
>>287060918I’ve started Doku Doku Mori Mori and have Magical Girl Dandelion on deck
I should have read Dragonhead sooner
I like this arc, it's fun and weird
>>287074480
>>287072905>1:99Ok, it's actual reincarnation instead of just being teleported. I'm hesitant but I think I'll give it a go since the setup looks funny.
onto vol 3 of my beloved Aria masterpiece collection. Digital ive been reading useless ponko and ive started the colour version of Quintessential Quintuplets. Really want some more Gokurakugai as well.
>>287060918I like the CCS manga.
i came across a BDSM romcom last night and damn does it start spiraling towards dark places in the later chapters.author is really fucking creatively bankrupt though, so many chapters are just repeats with very slight variations (piss yourself RIGHT NOW, but this time it's in a bucket) and then they tell each other they lvoe each other for like 5 pages over and over and over.Overall really fun
Read the Witch in Mongol manga translations up to vol 3. Really good. Anime soon. Beki best girl.
Close to finishing both Hell Teacher Nube and Nurse Angel Ririka. Also just recently started Fushigi Yuugi. Once I finish Hell Teacher Nube I'll probably start To Love Ru.
>>287060918Daemons of the Shadow Realm, by the FMA guy. It’s not bad, though it’s got some character bloat. Gabby best girl and I wish she did more.Candy and Cigarettes. It’s pretty meh, though. Feels very, VERY discount Gunslinger Girl, and the TL is really bland.Money Forest. I like this one a lot. Really anxious over the fate of the elves and what the MC’s gonna do with the macguffin. Kinda wish the chapter 1 twist didn’t exist, though.Talentless Nana. Yes, it’s still going, though it’s very definitely in the finale. The twist with the talented remains unbelievably stupid.
Finished reading Higehiro. Honestly pretty mid, but sunk cost fallacy and all that.
>>287080465Recently read through all of the Horimiya, even the endless fucking high school filler, because of sunk-cost.I found out that the manga was a adaptation of a webcomic and the anime itself was also an adaptation of an adaptation and has even more weird pacing issues. It was cute overall, but man the person who called it the greatest romance anime ever either had a really low threshold or romance anime in general is god awful.
>>287080902>endless high school fillerI mean I know romcoms are known for being bloated but Horimiya isn't even that long compared to some other stuff, and I just never understand people calling anything outside of the main couple (which is what I assume you're talking about) "filler". Plus it does what /a/ always hopes for and covers the actual relationship and not just up until the confession. I wouldn't say it's a favorite for me but I still liked it a lot. What romance manga do you like?
>>287063583>drove me to tearsWas it Flors or Lafalle?
>>287081020My main gripe with Horimiya is that, in the manga atleast, they kinda just abandon Mirumaya as a character and he becomes a blob in the Hori household, at some point Kyouko becomes an overtly jealous, irrational tsundere masochist (maybe that was some sort of replacement for them as a couple to have sex since they never touch the topic again after that one page during the rain and the bitemark) and she just never fucking talks to her "husband" about him.
>>287080902I tried to read it and it was okay shoujo but /a/ then spoiler the fact that male MC got domesticated haircut at some point and that was too much for me
>>287081214It's definitely got a lot of very cute moments and it's not bad, it's just that I fell for hype and there is so much chaff if what draws you in is the initial couple dynamics. Like the other anon said, it is nice that it's one of the few romcoms that does continue past the whole confession/kissu trope
Can't believe this shit used to have a dedicated hatebase. Bratty imouto or not, it's sickeningly sweet and I can't get enough of it. Sylphy chapters are my favorite.
>>287081688Don't worry, it's haram to criticize it now
>>287081214>shoujoHorimiya is not a shoujo manga. Also he cuts his hair pretty early in the manga iirc.
Pretty fun read for the whole "oji-san is actually the deadliest" type of genres and it takes itself seriously which was a nice change of pace. It's about a child solder who escaped back to modern Japan and trying to live his life, while the SoL stuff happens the serious plot keeps creeping in.It's got a fuckload of chapters to read through if you need something long to go through
>>287081861Come on, I read enough shoujo to understand where this hard working good girl trope came from
>>287079127Oh, right, duh. Tank Chair. Tank Chair is fucking incredible. Read Tank Chair.
>>287060943I'm trying this one out, interesting premise
>>287081795Yeah, not sure what to make of that. I feel like such a sheep that it took an IRL tragedy making the news rounds to get me to give it a chance, after being an even bigger sheep a decade ago that was put off by the complaints.Reading it with the bigger context in mind isn't bad, as the author adds a lot of bits about his family and personal life since the early volumes; it's a bit like reading two stories in parallel. But I'm not sure how to feel about not being able to separate it from Umaru the series anymore, at least in online discussion. Sankakuhead's works had been siscon-heavy before Umaru as well, so I do question exactly how much inspiration was there from the start, and how much may have instead been superimposed posthumously. Either way, there's not much point in trying to psychoanalyze the situation over such a lighthearted gag manga.
I decided to read Kurohime again, because the first time I got an obsession and absorbed it chapter by chapter until this eschatological melodrama сrushed me, so I put it on hold. Not sure if it was planned initially, but that's an interesting progression over time, when it starts at the end of the 90s as something a little silly and lighthearted, something closer to Slayers, Trigun, and countless other episodic adventures, then turns into over-the-top drama in the mid 00s
Read the first few chapters of Maou no Musume wa Yasashi Sugiru when it first came out. Picked it up again and read it all the way through since I heard the anime's out.
>Be off the internet for a while>Come back>Loads of new Reiwa no Dara-san chapters to catch up on after after like 1.5 years of lol nopeLove it when this happens.
>>287074548I like this manga but reading any of this author's stuff has my yaoi sense permanently tingling. I can't prove it, but it's obvious.
>>287081688>Can't believe this shit used to have a dedicated hatebase.Hey man the show's fanbase was extremely vocal and annoying, I couldn't go a thread without seeing that gremlin's face (in addition to the character herself being bratty), so it's not surprising it built that kind of reaction.
>>287081920>That moment when "Shimazaki returns to the battlefield"It was extremely haunting to see it after teasing it for the entire manga. He always looked competent and level-headed compared to the others that seeing him turn feral after replasing hit even harder>>287082207Haven't kept up in a year or so. Heard there were improvement in terms of fights. Maybe I'll use the anime to get back into it.
>>287081026It was Rei coming back to Fortuna as Fuuta's supposedly stillborn little sister.
