I wanted to say that this season saved 2026, because we would be getting more Steel Ball Run (technically the AOTY already, even though it will have only two episodes in 2026).

But I guess it's still a lot better than the winter season, where I watched only Golden Kamuy and The Darwin Incident and hated both. In the spring season, I will only be watching Dorohedoro (Season 2) and I expect to be at least mildly satisfied with the adaptation. The rest looks like garbo to me.

Witch Hat Atelier while I don't like how the manga turned out later on the portion that this season should adapt should be amazing and the trailers have looked amazing too even if some casting choices have been weird, however the season has been having massive production issues so I'm afraid that after 3 episodes the animation will melt or that the show will enter on break, it ultimately lingers on if that delay managed to save the show's production, it's also weird that the director is doing 2 shows this seasons

I didn't even say it interested me, I said I'll check it out, and said it's the only thing that might have a chance of being good, based on the fact that so many people are fans of the manga and they probably don't want to fuck it up and probably put some real money behind it. Will I like it? I don't know. Everything else looks like pretty generic slop, except Liar Game but that doesn't really appeal to me even if it probably will be well-made. If people say it's really good, maybe I'll come around back to it someday, but I still have some older Madhouse shows that I still haven't seen yet that look a lot more interesting I'd probably choose to watch first.
The stuff I do have a strong interest in is all later this year or next year. This season seems doesn't really have anything jumping out at me as being particularly interesting, and I'm not so starved of good anime throughout history I haven't seen yet that I'll just watch whatever just because it's new. I think unless a season is particularly stacked with quality shows, most people would be better off watching more old gems that are known to be good, instead of hoping like some kind of cargo cult that maybe 1 of the 10 or 15 shows they watch each season will actually be above mid. Even then there's only a handful of anime each year that will be remembered past their season. I'm never in that much of a rush to see even the best stuff.

Live action Liar Game was an absurdist expressionist laser tag-Saw stage play, with a pulsating one-note electronoise soundtrack that didn't try to merely entertain but assault the senses as it flashed a smash cut of Fukanaga laughing maniacally from three different angles as he betrayed Nao's trust yet again. just like this season i will be waiting for it all to complete and then watch in one go (the few that interest me like Liars Game and re:Zero)

its so fkn painful to watch weekly when there is glacial plot progression and next to no character development. seems like anime has been reduced to isekai slop, rom coms and smashing action figures into each other.
