They don't even actually do the three-way domain expansion because it gets randomly interrupted by that roach which then gets immediately killed. Also, we only met everyone except Yuta in this very episode. How am I expected to care at all about this battle, let alone give it the flowers everyone is drowning it with? This is all "payoff" with no setup

People often joke about the show being nothing but "hype moments" but there's some truth behind that. Gege introduced a lot of new characters and didn't do anything useful with them in the long run, which wouldn't be bad at all except that up until the Shibuya Incident arc, each character had their role properly determined.This entire arc feels like battles that, while well-drawn, don't carry any weight because you don't care about these characters.

>>287113350It's basically impossible for anything to match Bleach anyway, because often times the zanpakutoh in general can just be contrary to its users personality, or a shikai/bankai takes a form they dislike which destroys compatibility and/or willingness to use it. Most other battle manga don't bother having that level of "nuance" so power reveals are always underwhelming.
