I'm a Togamefag, and I like it. It's so cold and sad, and that's correct somehow.

Reverse fate with Senjougahara. Senjougahara dies but its in far more agony than Togame.

One of the shows that led to my habit of reading the full plot synopsis before picking up a story, because I would have been better off not seeing it.
>>
>>287114135
Shichika's final CHEERIO against the shogun was maybe the best emotional release scene I have experienced in an anime. Bawled my eyes out for like 20 minutes the first time I finished the show.
Thanks for reading my blog
>>
>>287116852
you're welcome
>>
>>287116852
Really? I still felt upset that they killed the girl. Not the shogun or whatever, I mean the writers. I don't even know why I finished the show after they killed a character I liked, but to this day I wish nothing but pain and suffering on the writers that made me upset.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
>>
>>287116947
I mean yeah I was pissed too, but all that meant was that I was feeling the same rage Shichika was throughout the last fight. And at the apex of his rage he still remembers Togame and Cheerio's the shogun, cementing the importance of his relationship with her despite acting like a killing machine for the previous several minutes.
I can understand getting mad at writers for doing a poor job but at least for me they were able to align the emotional state of the main character with the viewer and how much better can it get than that?
>>
>>287117224
>I mean yeah I was pissed too, but all that meant was that I was feeling the same rage Shichika was throughout the last fight.
Why would I want a show to make me pissed off? I don't watch stories to be upset.
>I can understand getting mad at writers for doing a poor job but at least for me they were able to align the emotional state of the main character with the viewer and how much better can it get than that?
Not being made to feel miserable to begin with? When I read a story with awful writing, I can just easily drop it and not think about it. When a story makes me like a character and then kills them off, I'm upset for years. It's been over a decade since I saw katanagatari and I'm still mad, and feeling like I want to smash the writers' heads in for that long can't be healthy.
>>
>>287117457
>feeling like I want to smash the writers' heads in for that long can't be healthy
I mean yeah, no shit. No offense (but also a lot of offense), you seem to lack the emotional maturity to engage with a story without letting your ego get bruised by what happens. Tragic deaths that make sense within the narrative and have other emotional payoffs are not bad writing
>>
>>287111756
>words words words words words words words: the anime
>>
>>287117589
Yeah, that sounds exactly like something that cuckolds say when they watch another man fuck their wife. It's the thinking man's fetish. So emotionally mature. I don't share your fetish so it just won't make sense to me no matter how you spin it.

I didn't say it was bad writing, the writers accomplished exactly what they meant to. They made me sympathise with a character, and then they killed her. And I will never stop hating them for it. There are no emotional payoffs after that.
>>
>>287117697
>equating tragedy with NTR
interesting
>>
>>287117773
They're both designed to make you feel miserable, the only difference is whether you have your dick in your hand or not. And I'm just not masochistic enough to derive any kind of pleasure from feeling miserable.
>>
>>287117882
you're not supposed to feel pleasure. do you feel pleasure when riding a roller coaster?
>>
>>287118036
No, that would be closer to excitement. I don't feel excited experiencing a tragic show either.
>>
>>287116947
Togame’s death is super sad but it’s not one that ruins the show IMO. She’s happy she failed at the end because she didn’t have to choose her scheme or Shichika and I think that’s cool. She’d been hurt too badly for too long to take a half measure and stop after the Shogun was dead.

Also she took Shichika’s virginity at the end of the Kendo episode btw
>>
>>287118221
It is one that ruins the show for me. Just like Nunnaly's ruined CG and Kamina's ruined TTGL. I've learned a lot since watching enough garbage, but all of the above still upset me.
>>
>>287111756

>>287118372
Was that true, or was she lying to get him to move on? I don't remember what her eye was doing at that point.
>>
>>287117457
>Why would I want a show to make me pissed off?
I wouldn't rather miss the show entirely because it has cool sword fights that make up for it. imo. The ending is just weird though.
>>
>>287118692
So it’s important to note her eye is a) an anime invention and b) shows up when she’s scheming but not necessarily lying.

I think she’s clearly angling to convince Shichika to kill the shogun one way or another

That's how I read post-golden age Berserk. Skip through all the dialogue, skip Griffith chapters altogether, and just appreciate the art. But if Miura had done something to Schierke I would have personally booked a flight to Japan to do what needed to be done. Glad fate got to him before he did something irredeemable. And Katanagatari's action is nowhere as near as good as Berserk's, and I cared far less about Caska or the other mercs than I did Togame.

I just don't get why authors decide to ruin their stories by killing off good characters. Bet you anything that most people even in this thread would appreciate Katanagatari more if Togame hadn't died.

Sure. But most people I talk to about the subject do agree. Of course writers should always be allowed to write and companies publish whatever they want, I just think that they should die if they produce tragedies.

Unlikely. I'm now almost 40 years old and I hate tragic stories more than I ever did.

That's my point. Most people I talk to don't like tragic shows because of the tragedy, they like them despite it. And I'm just a bit more extreme in my distaste for tragedy than most.

Hello to you as well.

You can have whatever preferences you want. Threatening to kill someone because you don't like their story is just embarrassing.
>>
>>287111865
Yep. One of the worst last episodes in anime. Horrid display of masturbatory, yet ironically cliched writing that betrays the same ethos it establishes within a few minutes of runtime.
>>
>>287128837
I wouldn't want to kill them, I just wish they were dead.

Is he autistic? I feel like someone who is almost 40 and thinks TTGL was worse for Kamina dying must be autistic.
>>
>>287129335
Yes, the first is an accurate description of how I felt when I experienced the story. The second is speculation of how I would have felt if Miura had done something to Schierke. What exactly is the confusion here? I'm a rational actor, I'm not about to ruin my life over a story. But would I be happy if the writers of the stories that made me feel miserable suddenly dropped dead? Absolutely.

>>287111865
