NTA. Some of the comedic moments were decent, and some of the supporting characters, like Fujiwara, Hayasaka, and Ishigami, were charming enough. However, the main characters, while good at being the butt of the jokes, were too insufferable and far up their own asses for many people to root for their romantic relationship. Especially Prez, who lacked the excuse of being raised in a sociopathic family, like Kaguya, unless you count his absent mother, and often acted as a preacher of Hacka's utilitarian and hypocritical philosophy. Ultimately, Hacka failed to establish a compelling romantic relationship between them in the second half of the manga, and I wasn't particularly surprised about that.

I would prefer if they actually just kept repeating the same joke. From S2 onward they basically drop all the mental game dynamics just to do standard romcom humor, and it's unfunny as hell on top of it.

I liked them as a vanilla love story. Sometimes, a simple setup like this is very enjoyable. Every other romcom is trying to make a convoluted story- when all you really need is vanilla. Despite some of the writing falling flat, I still think its incredibly unique in this regard. The story setup is easy to follow and the characters were conveyed with their motivations. You know what the ending is going to be, but you want to enjoy the work to get there. I feel people misunderstand that- they want to see more romance instead of it being implied.

Also NTA but I might add it's really hard to root for them because their conflict is a non issue. We know from Chapter 1 they should just stop being up their asses and confess to each other already, but they keep going in circles over this cause that's the series base. Even when Aka drops this bs they still are too anxious to do anything cause comedy I guess. Would be fine to be this way too if they actually dwelve deep on why they can't confess themselves, but we literally get to the clock tower scene not knowing the extent of Kaguya's family or anything about Shirogane besides him being poor.

The one Hacka focused our attention on, the confessing, indeed wasn't. Even the Kaguya's family issue was a bigger one, but I guess it was beyond his ability to believably or at least satisfyingly solve it.

Kaguya should've ended up with Ishigami and Prez should've ended up with Fujiwara, desu. Kaguya and Prez tended to only bring out the worst in each other due to their pride and manipulativeness, while their more humane sides were mostly displayed and developed in their interactions with the other council members.
